My family & I have looked after friends' & neigbours' pets since I was a child. I've volunteered at the SPCA and Wildlife Rescue Association of BC. I'm certified in Walks n Wags Pet First Aid and Fear Free handling, and trained in nutritional advising & veterinary nursing through the Douglas College Veterinary Office and Animal Care certificate program. I have experience looking after cats, dogs, reptiles, and birds. I'm ready to put all my skills and knowledge to use caring for your pet.

I’ve been caring for pets, both my own and others’, since I was a child, and now I’ve turned it into a career as a veterinary assistant. My main goal is to make sure your pet is comfortable, and that means changing as little as possible. I will closely follow any directions you leave me to ensure I care for your pet in a way that’s familiar to them. My training and experience also allows me to recognize and respond to emergency situations that may occur, and care for pets with special needs.

John is very professional and has experience taking care of different kinds of pets including reptiles. He is also easy to communicate with. I would highly recommend him.
John has a highly skilled background, which left me feeling comfortable leaving my two dogs (each with an underlying health issue) in his care. He provided house sitting and left my place tidy and clean. I would recommend John to those like me - paranoid/anxious about your pets during your absence. We feel so lucky to have found John! It’s hard to find pet sitters qualified to take care of exotics. We have 2 elderly bunnies and one needs medication daily. John handled it no problem and kept us updated when one of them wasn’t acting himself. We also have a very shy cat that really came out of her shell with John. I was surprised when I got pictures of her hanging out among the other pets and getting head scritches from John! Throughout our trip we got frequent updates and great communication. We will absolutely be using John again.
John was very good with my old and cranky dog. He asked lots of questions beforehand to ensure he understood her temperament and character. He was reliable in showing up to walk her when I was not at home, and let me know how she was afterwards. My dog was happy to see him, and it was obvious that he cared for her.
John has dog sat for us on numerous occasions and I would highly recommend him to anyone. He is fantastic with our dog, takes him for tons of walks, plays with him and our dog is always so excited to see him. John is very trust worthy, punctual and reliable. John has a way with dogs that all dogs really respond well to, calm and assertive. When you leave your dog with John you can know and trust you are leaving them in good hands.

Schedule
I work Tuesday through Friday, 8:00 am to 6:30 pm, so I can offer regular morning and evening meals and walks around 7 am and pm

- Due to the nature of my job it is imperative for the safety of both your pet and my patients that I know if your pet is up to date on their vaccines, has any chronic infections, or is immunocompromised in any way. On the flip side my training and experience has prepared me to care for pets with special needs, but I need to be informed of these needs before the booking. This includes any medications, activity restrictions, or behavioural problems. I also appreciate having a printed copy of all care instructions, and will require you to sign a supplementary document that will ensure I can properly tend to your pet in the event of an emergency.
