Hi! I’m Johnny, and I grew up on a ranch in Colorado, where caring for animals was a part of everyday life. I was raised around horses, dogs, cats, and other animals, so being responsible for their care has been second nature since I was young. Throughout my life, I’ve continued to care for pets and understand that every animal has its own personality, routines, and needs. Whether your pet loves long walks, playing fetch, or relaxing on the couch, I’ll make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away. Professionally, I’ve worked in high-trust positions on Capitol Hill and at the Smithsonian, where reliability, communication, and attention to detail were essential. I’ll bring that same level of professionalism to caring for your pets and your home. I know leaving a pet with someone else can be stressful, so I’ll keep you updated with photos and messages and treat your furry family member like one of my own. Im a proud cat dad to a wild orange cat named Cheeter!

John (Johnny) is a fantastic walker! He told me he’s new to the Rover platform but I can tell he’s very experienced and fantastic with dogs/animals. My dog Monty is not a huge walker and after about 10 minutes walking, Monty was dragging him back to my apartment and didn’t want to keep walking. Johnny called me to communicate that he is happy to do the full 30 minute walk, but that Monty wanted to come home and wouldn’t walk. He came back to my apartment and hung with Monty inside for the remaining 20 minutes. I recommend Johnny as a walker. He’s also so friendly and kind!
Johnny is exactly who you want to watch your pet. He’s responsible, extremely organized, and has a fun, light hearted personality. He is the absolute star cat dad to his cat Cheater and my dog Dolly is always so excited to see him. He brings a warm energy that makes animals immediately feel comfortable.
John has watched my two cats, Moo and Bear, on multiple occasions and always takes such great care of them. He’s reliable, attentive, and genuinely loves animals. I always feel completely at ease knowing they’re in his hands!

Schedule
My schedule is currently flexible, giving me plenty of time for walks, drop-in visits, playtime, and attentive care. I’m available during weekdays and weekends and will communicate clearly about timing.

I live in a comfortable apartment in Dupont Circle with access to a fantastic fenced-in shared courtyard for supervised outdoor time. I carefully follow each owner’s instructions, maintain their pet’s normal routine, and prioritize safety, cleanliness, and plenty of individual attention.

A typical day
My priority is to learn about your pets personality! What makes them tick, what activities they enjoy and find stimulating, or any triggers I should be aware of. Happy to follow a preferred walk route as I know dogs love routine. It’s always good to let dogs lead the way (within owners expectations). Patience is critical, and slowly easing into a relationship with any animal is important. If your pet wants to stop and smell the roses, I let them! Allowing dogs to use their noses stimulates their brains and results in a calmer animal. I’m in tune with animals and will quickly pick up their needs and preferences on an ongoing basis.

- The more you can tell me the better! I am more than happy to have a meeting in greet both in person or virtually. If you are working on any training on your dog absolutely let me know so I can help reinforce the behavior. Repetition is key! You can never over-communicate with me, and I will provide detailed summaries with lots and lots of photos.
