Pet care experience
Like Home, But More Treats!
Hello! We’re John and Jess :) John is a helicopter pilot and Jess is working on her PhD in Linguistics, and in the mean time, we love to hang with pups! Between the two of us, we’ve had the joy of raising and caring for a wide variety of dog breeds—from high-energy working dogs to calm, older companions. This experience has taught us that every dog has its own personality, quirks, and needs. We take the time to get to know each pup individually to make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while in our care. Currently, we have a sweet and social golden retriever who loves welcoming new dog friends into our home. Whether your pup enjoys playful interaction or prefers a quiet companion to hang out with, we’re confident our retriever will be a great fit. John splits his time between home and a part-time job at a local puppy co-op, where he helps care for dogs of all shapes and sizes. When he’s not working there, he’s usually home playing with our retriever—or helping care for our Rover guests! Jess is a full-time stay-at-home dog mom, which means your dog will never be left alone and will always have human companionship and supervision throughout the day. We treat every dog who stays with us like family, and our home is set up to be safe, clean, and cozy. Whether your pup is here for just the day or for an extended stay, we’ll make sure they’re happy, active, and cared for just like they would be at home. IMPORTANT: We run our business out of our home, so it is important to us to create healthy boundaries for drop-offs, pick-ups, and meet and greets, so that both us and the rest of our family has privacy and time to spend together without interruption. Our hours of operation for pickups, drop-offs, and meet and greets are 7am-9am and 1pm to 6pm. For extenuating travel circumstances and airline delays, we are happy to make the occasional exception! We also prefer not to do any pick-ups or drop-offs on Sundays. We understand this is an inconvenience to those fun weekend travel plans, so we’re happy to add an extra night free of charge to make the scheduling work for everybody involved! Don’t worry, your pup will have just as much fun during our “off hours” and “off days,” our dog socializing battery never runs out; just our human one does occasionally😂 We also practice the same habits with meet and greets, which means that we keep them to our front porch where we can meet and get acquainted with your pup out in the sunshine. We’re happy to let you peek into our space and walk you around to the back yard! We can also send you more thorough video tours if you want a more in-depth view of our space.

Ratings and reviews
Jessica was amazing with my five month old puppy Apollo! She played his favorite game with him. And took him out for his potty breaks. He was exhausted after. So I think that is a sign he had a great time! She was also super flexible with me and worked with me for pick up and drop off times that worked for me so I could do my interview and get back on the road to make it home on time!

I was very happy and excited to find such a high rated Rover for a last minute accommodation for my vacation because my primary care provider had to bail last minute because of fire season duties. Initially I had a drop off schedule for 0730, that was amiable by both parties, I had to bump it to 0900 and Jessica agreed, that was great! The narrative in their profile included a fenced in backyard that pet owners were able to tour, that was not the case when I arrived. She nervously met me in the driveway and tried to gather my things as fast as possible, I was able to walk to the front porch and when I asked for a look in the backyard, she said she was unable to accommodate that, she said I could not see the backyard. I gave trust in her and dropped my dog off regardless. Instead Jessica said she would send me a picture of the backyard and she did, with no dog or dogs in the picture. That was not a good sign. She sent me a picture of my dog the next day with her walking harness on half way and on incorrectly. I asked Jessica why the harness was on wrong and why she was even wearing a harness if the yard was fenced and then I was met with excuses that was not reasonable or what was the expectation on their profile. Then John got involved and became aggressive and accused me of being accusatory when I was quoting was what on their profile as far as what care they provided. It got pretty messy from there and I was worried about my dog as she is family to me. He was extremely indignant that I was asking questions and being concerned for my dog so I reached out to my dogs breeder and friend that is 40 minutes away to pick her up the next morning and told him that was happening. He threaten me and said he was “on the phone with Rover and they’re aware of the situation”. Also “send me (friends name)‘s address now”(this was at 1130PM )so did not disclose address because I was not feeling good about someone so upset driving my dog 40 minutes away at that hour. John responded and said this is “not an 8-5 business” and that it is their home, which is confusing if you are indeed doing Rover and taking care of pets and people are paying you $$. John sent me a couple of other aggressive message after that and I did not respond because I was afraid of aggravating him. My friend was able to get a pick up my dog at 9 the next morning. Did not receive any other angry comments after in the morning so wondering if he was drunk that night. I would not recommend this place to a friend, not sure what is going on on this property or with John but I have never had such a horrible experience with Rovers.

Jessica was great with Banks and even helped keep a last minute injury protected and made sure Banks took his antibiotics. He came home happy :)

What a great first boarding experience! John and Jessica were so nice and took great care of our puppy. He came back home happy and tired from all the playtime he was given.

Took very good care of my dog and genuine pig, communicated very well, and sent update pictures daily! Very appreciative of their time and effort:)

We have brought our dog here twice and we have been so happy with his care! Jess is so kind and keeps us updated with pictures! She is SO quick to respond. Arlo always comes back looking so happy and taken care of and that is all we ask for! Highly recommend bringing your sweet pet here when needed, you won’t regret it!

Schedule
Caring for dogs is a central part of our everyday life—it’s not just something we do, it’s something we love. Our daily routine is built around keeping pups happy, well-exercised, and emotionally cared for. Mornings start with breakfast, potty breaks, and some gentle playtime in our fully fenced yard. Throughout the day, we maintain a predictable rhythm that includes walks, downtime, enrichment activities, and plenty of snuggles. John works part-time at a puppy co-op, so even when he’s away from home, he’s still immersed in caring for dogs and learning new ways to support their health and behavior. On the days he’s home, he joins in for longer walks, games in the yard, or just keeping your pup company. Jess is home full-time and manages the heart of our daily pet care routine. She’s the steady presence that helps dogs feel calm and safe, especially if they’re nervous or new to being away from home. Her consistent attention means your dog won’t be left alone or overlooked—every tail wag and tummy rub is accounted for. Our weekly routine includes rest days, outings (if requested), and flexible time to accommodate dogs with specific needs—whether that’s medication, a crate training schedule, or extra grooming attention. We make it our goal to mirror the comfort, pace, and care you give your dog at home, while providing a structured environment they can thrive in. With pet care woven into our everyday lives, we’re able to offer consistency, personal attention, and a genuine love for each pup we welcome into our home.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
We care for pets in our home as if they were our own. Our goal is to create a safe, calm, and homey environment where dogs feel secure, loved, and well cared for. Each dog’s needs and routines are important to us, so we make sure to follow feeding schedules, potty routines, and any specific instructions provided by their owners. Throughout the day, dogs enjoy supervised time in our large, fenced yard for play, potty breaks, and exercise. Inside, they have comfortable resting spots, access to water, and lots of affection. We keep a balanced schedule that includes active play, social time (if they enjoy other dogs), and plenty of quiet time so they don’t get overstimulated. We also provide updates with photos and messages, so you can feel confident your pup is happy and well cared for while you're away. Whether your dog is high-energy or more laid-back, we adjust our care to meet their personality and comfort level.

A typical day
If your pup enjoys adventure, we’re happy to include dog parks, lake walks, swimming, or even a good run in their routine. We have a dog life jacket on hand for large to XL breeds, so water-loving pups can join in safely. Our home is right next to the Caldwell Greenbelt, giving us easy access to a beautiful 3.5-mile loop—perfect for daily walks your dog is sure to love!
