Like Your Pets Are on Vacation!!!

HOUSE/PET SITTING, PLEASE SEE BELOW... ABOUT ME Up until 2019, I had two sweet 16 year-olds, a Boston Terrier, and a Beagle-Lab mix. Sadly, I had to put them both down, within months of each other. That pain was difficult to get over, but reached the point of understanding there are other dogs out there who need love and attention. Since 2020, I have been a sitter, with Rover, and it's been even more fulfilling that I could have imagined. I can't express how meaningful it is, to be able to earn the trust of both you, the parents, as well as your sweet "children". There were many times, when I had to leave mine behind, for one reason or another. I was fortunate to have found a good sitter then, but it never completely erased those feelings of regret. I want YOU to be able to leave yours with me, CONFIDENT that you have done your very best to ensure they are as happy as possible, in your absence, so you can enjoy your own travels or activities, with as little guilt as possible. I know it's real! HOUSE/PET SITTING: Although I currently reside in Northern Cincinnati, I have house/pet sat in SW FL (Cape Coral and Venice), several times, over the years, and my House/Pet Sitting service area is adjusted, to reflect my interest in spending even more time there (SW FL). Rover does have additional settings, which would enable me to make that more precisely clear, OR to set a minimum number of days, but I have made my pricing very specific, so that it makes financial sense for me, and two days would have to be my minimum stay. You will note that the initial rate is very high, but that is only for those first two days. That enables me to cover the cost of making my way to you. However, beyond the first two days, the rate drops to much less than what I charge for basic overnight stays, at my own home. In practice, I think you will find that, if you need a sitter for a week or more, the pricing evens out, and is more like what you would typically expect. If you need even longer coverage, I do have that flexibility, and the pricing could be adjusted, even further. If you should happen to find this acceptable, the nice thing (for your pets) is that I would be working remotely (taking care of my "day job" responsibilities), so I will be completely available to them, the entire day; for walks, play, or even just the companionship you are seeking for them. I would love to make something work out. Thank you for reading.

We are always pleased to have John stay with Clancy! Clancy is getting older and has high anxiety, but he has been very comfortable with John, which gives us peace of mind when we have to leave him. In addition, John always leaves the house in great shape - everything is straight and clean. It's nice to come back home and not have to worry about cleaning up!

We asked John to sit with Clancy again because he did such a good job last time. He takes such good care of Clancy, who is older and a bit high maintenance 😄

We were in town for a wedding and my dog stayed with John for 3 nights this past weekend. My dog really loved John!! John is an excellent communicator and was easy to coordinate with. John is also kind and followed my dog's care instructions exactly. His house was comfortable for my dog and my dog loved John's fenced in backyard too. My dog came back very happy, loved, and well taken care of during my weekend away. I highly recommend John as a dog sitter and would use John again and again if we lived in the area!

This is our first time using Rover. We have a quirky dog with a nervous disposition. John had a calming influence and made our high-strung guy right at home. He’s a dog whisperer for sure! We’ll definitively schedule John again the next time we travel.

John is exactly who we needed. Best dog sitter I have ever used. I enjoyed my vacation more knowing that my little dog was in such good hands. He checked in regularly with updates. Took Birdie on walks and to visit friends and family. She came home very happy. Already have plans to use again!

Schedule

I have a "day" job that usually requires that I go into the office. There can be exceptions, but I don't want to mislead you into thinking that I'll be home. Most days, you can assume your pup will be here for 8-9 hours, while I'm at work. My office is close enough, that I could probably come home, at lunch, if that was a necessity. If your little one is crate-trained, that would probably work well, but I'm happy to give them free run in part of the house, if not. I don't usually go out, during the evenings, so your dog(s) and I will generally be on the couch, watching a lot of movies, unless they decide that it's a good time to take a look, out back!

Safety, trust & environment

I live in a townhome, and am happy to carry little ones up and down, if that's their preference. I know sometimes stairs can be hard on dogs' backs. I do NOT have a fenced in yard, but the area behind my unit is spacious and very private, so I usually just take my guests out there, whenever they feel the need. When I'm here, I'm virtually ALWAYS interacting with my guests, talking to them, or just reaching down for a quick petting or chest scratch. They can sleep on the bed, if that's their inclination, and I pride myself on helping them feel comfortable enough in my space, that they will maintain their usual eating habits.

A typical day

I'm not super-active, when left to my own devices. If your pup has any toys, I'm happy to play ball or tug-of-war, although I find that most of the little ones simply prefer to sit on my lap, while I'm watching TV, so it's mostly just a lot of interaction and physical contact. If I'm house sitting, and your yard is NOT fenced in, then we are walking the neighborhood… OFTEN (as often as they're used to, at least)!

As my profile indicates, I have a preference for small breeds, at least when they are staying with me. They do need to be house trained, and as gentle in nature as possible. When they were still around, both of my pets wound up needing meds. If that's what your baby requires, I'm sure we can work something out, as well. We can talk about the rest of the usual details, when we make our arrangements!
