I work from home, allowing me to easily integrate my two Border Collies into my daily routine. My fenced backyard provides a safe space for play, and I frequently utilize the adjacent forest trails for extended adventures. Our days typically begin with an early morning frisbee or ball game around 6:30 am. I prioritize regular outdoor time throughout the day, regardless of the weather, ensuring they get plenty of exercise until bedtime around 10:00 pm. Additionally, I aim to explore the woods with them at least once a day, providing them with enriching mental and physical stimulation.

Safety, trust & environment

My fenced yard offers a secure outdoor space, and I've installed a doggie door for convenient access. For overnight stays, the canine guests are accommodated in the guest room alongside me. This arrangement has proven effective in minimizing any potential anxiety they may experience, while also providing our feline residents with unrestricted access to the house during the night. I believe in fully integrating each pup into my daily life, ensuring they feel like the cherished guests they truly are. I also have three cats, so your dog must be comfortable around felines. Additionally, my 6-year-old son is an active part of our household, so your pup should be sociable with children. If your pup is a good fit, I offer a warm and loving environment. I deeply value all my animals and enjoy spending quality time with them, including lots of cuddles! I'm adaptable to your pup's individual needs and routines. If they're accustomed to staying off furniture at home, I'll respect that. Similarly, I'm happy to use a crate if it provides comfort or security for your dog. My primary goal is to ensure your pup feels safe, happy, and well-cared for during their stay.

Fun family home with fenced yard

Pet care experience

Hi! Animals have always been a part of my life. Growing up on a farm, I was surrounded by a diverse range of creatures – chickens, geese, goats, sheep, alpacas, llamas, horses, bunnies, and more. I even inherited the family dog, a lovable but rather pungent fellow! My family also had a heart for rescue, rehabilitating and re-homing dogs, particularly cocker spaniels, from less-than-ideal breeding situations. My first solo canine companions were a Great Dane and a Bouvier, both welcomed into my life at 15. These 11 and 13 years were filled with joy and invaluable lessons, particularly about the unique challenges of living with giant and herding breeds. Since then, I've always had at least one dog by my side. Currently, I share my home with two energetic young Border Collies. They are incredibly fun but demand a high level of canine enthusiasm! Their playful nature, including barking and jumping, doesn't bother me at all. I understand the breed's inherent drive and strive to honor their spirited personalities. For me, the most important thing is to respect an animal's natural instincts and individuality. As long as they are neither aggressive nor fearful, I encourage them to be themselves.

John was an excellent sitter. I left Frida with him for a week, and he sent pictures at least once per day. She was very well cared for, and John was communicative, friendly, and his property is perfect for a pup.

Olive had a great stay with John! She loved playing with all the other pups at daycare and came home exhausted. It was great exposure to other dogs and cats for a new puppy. I will absolutely rebook in the future!

Roo had a great stay with John. The big fenced-in backyard was perfect for her, and she loved playing with the other dogs. John provided daily updates and photos and was a great communicator throughout her stay.
