John can care for
Availability
I am fully retired and when I'm housesitting, your dogs get undivided attention and time from me. With the exception of a daily pickleball game, I am with your dog all day long and all night long - I am an avid reader and will care for your house in the same way as I do your animals. I am a non-smoker, a non-drinker, and a vegetarian - when you return, your house will look the way you leave it.

I will housesit/dogsit any dog size or puppies if there is a fenced-in yard. Due to my prostethic legs, I can leash walk any dog up to 40 lbs. Even with a fenced-in yard, I will leash walk dogs (up to 40 lbs) twice a day when I dogsit.
Information John B. would like to know about your pet
If they need any special diet or medications. Dogs respond to me, and I never have issues with getting a pill down or helping with behavioral needs (i.e. taking a treat gently).
A typical day
As noted, as a double amputee, I stay in your home, reading, keeping company with your dogs (and cats). I love sitting outside within a fenced in yard, throwing the ball until the bullpen needs a call. I can throw at least 140 balls - as any herding dog will tell you. I love taking dogs on leashed walks, but due to my prosthetics, I limit walking dogs who are under 40 pounds. And I love to pet dogs, hang out, and get the good scratches and belly rubs in. I'm happy to take your dog to your local dog run/park, and if your dog is good in the car, I often take dogs out to South Padre Island.

Pet care experience
When I sit at somebody’s house it’s a unique experience, in that, with the exception of my daily pickleball game, I remain with your dog 24/7. As a double amputee, I spend a fair bit of my time, without my prosthetics, on the floor at "Dawg level." If you've had experience with sitters who aren't home enough for your comfort level, I AM YOUR GUY - and why my fee may be higher than my fellow Rover providers - but you'll have confidence in the amount of time and attention your dog(s) get with me while you're away. I can throw 200 baseballs, as many frisbees as a dog will chase, and I generally think living with dogs is better than living with humans. I grew up in a house of 12 children with a mother who did not allow any other pets. Shortly after arriving at college, I rescued a pup who was the sole survivor of his litter. That dog, Jed, was my best friend and traveling companion for the next nine years. We traveled 48 states together and I lived my life trying to live in a fashion that would make him happy. When he died, I moved on for sometime and then was married and when our first son was born, we adopted a rescue blue heeler - Max, a great dog. We also hosted a friend's dog, Shadow at the same time as my wife could take it - and Shadow became a permanent part of the family for the next 8 years. After Max died, my youngest asked for a dog - we got Elwood, a Queensland, who was also one of the great ones. After that, I then had a fine doggie, Scout, who spent 12 years of unbridled joy with me. When he died, I left and hit the road for a long time and during that time I went amongst many homes that had dogs and when I arrived my friends said, 'well let’s take a couple of days to ourselves and leave the dogs with John.' I feel fortunate to dogsit through Rover - gives people "peace of mind" and gives me a chance to spend time with dogs since I no longer have my own...

Thank you for taking care of our pack and our house while we were away.

We just returned from a long weekend away and couldn't be happier with the care John provided. He took excellent care of our dog, cat, and home. It was a relief to know everything was in good hands while we were in San Antonio. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a reliable and attentive house/pet sitter!

John was awesome, he took good care of Zoey. John took the time to get to know Zoey, and by the time I left her anxiety was gone.

Our girls love John! He does a great job and we always feel comfortable leaving home knowing he is there.
