Rescue dog lover and walker

Dogs have been the center of my life for over 16 years. My journey started with my two little terriers. A Yorkie and a Silky Terrier who quickly turned my love for animals into a lifelong passion and purpose. Over the years I became the person friends, family, and neighbors call when they find an animal in need. Whether it's helping rescue a neglected dog, connecting someone with a shelter, or stepping in to care for a pet, I’ve always felt a deep responsibility to advocate for animals who can’t speak for themselves. In August 2023 I lost my soul dog, Lola, and the grief was overwhelming. In her honor, I began volunteering at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Animal Shelter in October 2023. Helping the dogs there reminded me how much love I still had to give. Since then I’ve fostered dogs for the shelter as well as local rescues like Peanut’s Place Small Dog Rescue and FurBabies Animal Rescue. Every foster that has passed through my home has received my full heart and dedication, and seeing them find loving homes has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. In 2024 I foster-failed with my sweet girl Lacey, who reminded me so much of Lola and became a permanent part of my family. Caring for rescue dogs has given me experience with dogs of many breeds, temperaments, and ages, from shy and scared pups to energetic personalities who just need guidance and love. Dogs aren’t just pets to me, they are family. I treat every dog in my care the same way I treat my own.

House Sitting • Jun 04, 2026

Me & My Girlfriend had a last minute cancellation on our pet sitter and reached out to Johanna last minute to see if she was available to watch our two pups. Luckily, she had availability and was able to watch them while we were out of town. She kept an open line by always sending us updates or pictures which we loved. Her compassion towards animals creates a worry free experience when she’s watching them. Frank and Whiskey loved having her over to take care of them and she even brought them special treats from home. We will continue to reach out to Johanna for all our pet sitting needs. She is truly a gem.

Doggy Day Care • Apr 09, 2026

Johanna was very communicative and sent lots of pupdates throughout the day. Our dog came home happy and tired!

Johanna is incredible! We actually found her because she was the foster mom for our rescue dog. She has rescued a number of dogs with the organization that she volunteers with. The time, commitment and love that she gives to each dog that she welcomes is immeasurable. She falls in love with each one immediately and cries when they leave! We stay in touch with her and know that she was a true blessing and instrumental in the healing process of our rescue. You won’t find a better human to love on your furbabies if you need someone!

Johanna was the foster parent for our rescue, Scottie. Before we were able to take him home, she gave us daily updates, videos and text messages to let us know how he was doing, what types of treats and toys he liked, and she still asks to this day how he is doing. She has a heart of gold, she is extremely compassionate about animals and very considerate and responsible when it comes to taking care of them. I would trust our fur baby with Johanna 100%!

When I meet Johanna my first impression of her was that she really loved pets. She is very kind and empathetic, focused on the well-being of others and animals. She really knows the personality of pets, very observant and focus and details. She sent me detailed updates with videos and photos about my pet, which I loved!"

I am the Director of FurBabies Animal Rescue, and Johanna adopted her sweet girl, Lacey, from us a few years ago. Not long after, she also began fostering for FurBabies. I cannot recommend Johanna highly enough for any and all of your dog care needs. She is incredibly thorough, responsible, and compassionate, not only with her own dog, Lacey, but with every foster dog she welcomes into her home. I would trust her completely with my own personal dogs or any FurBabies dogs without hesitation.

Safety, trust & environment

Providing a safe, loving, and calm environment is always my top priority. I live in a townhome with a small fenced backyard, and our neighborhood is extremely dog-friendly. Many of my neighbors have dogs, so I’m constantly out walking my dog and foster pups making sure they get exercise, enrichment, and fresh air. When caring for dogs in my home or yours, I focus on maintaining their normal routine as much as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and plenty of affection. I also understand that every dog has a unique personality and comfort level, so I always take the time to learn their needs and boundaries. Safety and trust are incredibly important to me. I pay close attention to body language, keep a clean and calm environment, and ensure dogs always feel secure and comfortable. My experience volunteering, fostering, and walking dogs has helped me become very attentive to changes in behavior, energy, and stress levels. Whether your dog needs a relaxing walk, overnight care, or just someone to keep them company while you're away, you can trust that they will receive patience, love, and attentive care. As a bonus, I am fluent in both English and Spanish, which allows me to communicate with even more pet parents in our community.
