Hi, I’m Joey! I’m a Veterinary Assistant with 4+ years of hands-on experience in both general practice and emergency medicine — right now I work in the ER at Blue Pearl and also with the team at GoodVets here in Denver, and I previously worked in emergency at Animal Emergency and Urgent Care in Florida. I love animals with a little extra going on — whether that’s a senior pup with mobility issues, a cat who needs meds or fluids, or a nervous rescue who just needs a calm, patient presence. My clinical background means I’m comfortable and confident handling medical needs, but at the end of the day, I just really enjoy giving pets great care and a little extra attention while their people are away. My career in animal care began in 2021 as a Kennel Technician, and I’ve since advanced into veterinary assisting, where I take on a lot of hands-on clinical work — placing IV catheters, drawing blood, running in-house labs, and reading samples under the microscope. In the ER especially, I help monitor vitals, recognize early signs of illness or distress, and assist with setting up, running, and monitoring surgeries, including emergency procedures. I’m also currently enrolled in Penn Foster’s Veterinary Technology program, continuing to build on this experience as I work toward becoming a licensed technician. For pet sitting, this means your pet is not only getting love and attention, but also experienced, medically-informed care. I’m comfortable handling pets with anxiety, special routines, or ongoing treatments, and I’m trained to respond calmly and effectively in urgent situations if they arise. Beyond my professional experience, I’ve spent years volunteering with shelters and rescuing animals, so I genuinely treat every pet like my own.
