Pet care experience
I have experience with large dogs (2 different 80 lbs+ German Shepherds) who are also ‘dog reactive’; walking same-residence dogs in pairs who have a large age difference; walking same-residence dogs separately due to large age difference; and multiple cats in same residence with mix of indoor & outdoor plus indoor/outdoor hybrid. I have a rule of keeping my phone pocketed during dog walks, both for safety and to simply enjoy the walk. I’m a generous belly rubber & scratcher, and happy recipient of licks from the pooches and biscuit-making from the kitties.

Joel is an experienced and reliable dog sitter. Though new to Rover, he has been caring for my two Beagles over the past 5 years. He is incredibly respectful of our needs (dogs too!). He is open to doing drop ins or long stays. He goes above and beyond and even picks up my mail and checks my plants. When you travel a lot like I do, having a reliable trustworthy person like Joel who can watch the dogs is a game changer.

I ask my friends & clients to not task me simply with the bare minimum, but instead what the optimal experience and care is for their pets, plants, garden & property.

Mostly, I like to know as much detail as possible. I have found that sometimes owners are a tad shy about conveying their optiomal wish list for pet care and home care, perhaps because they are worried they are asking for too much. I prefer to know everything from the most important basics to all the little details that make for a happy pet.
A typical day
I enjoy taking dogs on long walks. Bayou St. John is one of my favorite spots, but quiet residential streets and parks are lovely too. Indoors, and in enclosed yard, I love to play fetch with pooches who can't get enough of it.

I work as an independent contractor in arts organization development & fundraising, plus live event venue rental sales. Outside of in-person presentations and site visits, I work remotely, and so have schedule flexibility suitable for pet and home care.
