Mission Hills Dog Lovers with a Big
I’ve had dogs my entire life, from playful puppies to sweet senior dogs, and understand that every dog has their own routine, personality, and needs. My wife and I currently share our home with Callie, our friendly 8-year-old terrier mix who loves meeting and playing with other pups. We also cared for our beloved Daisy for 17 wonderful years. We treat every dog like family—with patience, affection, attention, and plenty of fun.

Parker had an AWESOME time with Joe, Kat and Daisy! They were incredible hosts, sent pictures and communications daily and made me feel very comfortable that Parker was in great hands.They were very flexible with drop off/ pick up times and just very nice folks, in general! I love this option to have my dog in a home with loving people, vs a doggie hotel. I will always go this route from now on!! Thanks again Joe and Kat!!! Lisa (and Parker!! ) :)
Our older dog seemed to enjoy herself with Joe and Kat and their friendly dog, Daisy. They live in a lovely, gated building in Banker's Hill that looks very dog-friendly. They kept in touch with me via text on a regular basis. I highly recommend them to care for your dog .
Joe, Kat and Daisy took care of my 9-year old Shih-Tzu, Penny Lane for a week. Joe and Kat are solid, trustworthy midwesterners, and I had no concerns that they would take good care of my girl. During my trip, they sent me photos of PL--one with PL sleeping in Daisy's bed (a generous hostess, for sure). Daisy is much bigger than PL, but she is a sweet and gentle dog. They live only 1 block from Balboa Park, so PL got to go to the dog park. When I returned, PL wasn't even excited to see me; obviously her time with Joe, Kat and Daisy agreed with her. I have already booked another DogVacay for PL with Joe, Kat and Daisy for two weeks from now.
Kat and Joe are amazing! At the initial meet and greet they asked lots of questions which made me feel reassured that my dog was in good hands. I really like that they post picture updates and are very active, taking her for walks to the nearby dog park. A friendly couple, easy to work with, and you can tell they really care. Highly recommend!
Joe and Kat were fantastic. We went to Europe for 10 days and never had to worry about Teegan back home. The meet-and-greet, drop off and updates throughout went so well. And Joe and Kat even helped us out by keeping Teegan an extra night, when flight delays and a dead car battery made our trip home pretty unpleasant. All I know for sure, is Teegan had a lot of fun with her new friend Daisy...looking forward to her next visit.
We could tell Lola was excited to see Katie again. We're very happy that she's so well cared for.

Schedule
I work from home, so your dog will have company and supervision for most of the day. I typically take dogs for a daily lunchtime walk and can provide frequent backyard play and potty breaks. A few times each week, we visit local dog parks or dog-friendly beaches for dogs who enjoy those outings. If your dog prefers quieter activities, we’re equally happy taking an extra walk or enjoying relaxed playtime at home.

Safety, trust & environment
Our one-story home has a large, securely fenced backyard where dogs can safely play and enjoy fresh air. We have plenty of cozy dog beds and create a comfortable, supervised environment indoors and out. There is one flight of stairs at the entrance, but everything inside is on one level. We take time to follow each dog’s feeding, medication, exercise, and comfort routines closely. For everyone’s safety, we can only care for dogs who are not aggressive.

A typical day
A typical day includes morning potty time and backyard play, followed by lots of company while I work from home. At lunchtime, we head out for a daily walk, then relax with indoor play, naps on cozy dog beds, and more backyard breaks. Dogs who enjoy social outings may join us at a nearby dog park or dog-friendly beach. We tailor activities to each dog’s energy level, preferences, and routine.

Please share whether they are comfortable with dog parks, beaches, walks, car rides, stairs, or being left briefly while we run an errand.
