Pet care experience

Pet owner and lover

Ive grown up with animals and took an interest in training and sitting when I was around 10 years old. I have experience training and watching family dogs, reactive dogs, service dogs and puppies! I also have multiple animals of my own and am well versed in the different care that different species may need. I also hold a license and permit to be able to board animals in my home.

Loki had an amazing week with his new friend and we will most certainly look forward to having Jocelyn care for him next time we’re out of town. He ate his meals, which he usually doesn’t do when separated from me, so I know he was relaxed and happy. She’s just the best!

I am not sure how to rate this sitter. She's young and clearly from my point of view is doing this because it's a way to make extra income which she probably needs but it was not because she cared about our dogs. She has great ratings and many. Can I now not trust what I read on Rover? When we arrived her house is on a busy street, no fence, no yard to run around in. That would not have been bad as she said she takes them out on a leash to go potty but the house was maybe 800 sq ft with 4 other dogs, 3 being hers and 2 cats. I was immediately uneasy and should have walked right out with my dogs but I kept thinking, she has great ratings, she must be okay. I assumed she must be good at caring for all of their needs and spending lots of time loving on the dogs. First day I had to ask how they were doing and ask for pictures. I got them but later that day. The next day, I heard nothing. At 10 pm at night I am wondering if my dogs are alive. I text her over and over, no response. In the morning she text me an apology that she had a migraine all day. I got a couple more pictures but nothing to show me they were okay. I messaged her back and said we will be there early to pick up our dog. She said she wouldn't be home until 1:30 so we could pick up then. My assumption is in a question, she's leaving 6 dogs and 2 cats in a 800 sq. ft. house by themselves for how long? When I picked them I found out they did not get fed from their bowls which are special for slowing down their eating. I also discovered later that she did not read feeding instructions for my dogs because they barely ate any of their food. The bags of food that came home had almost as much food as I sent with them. I measured it out before leaving and they should eaten most of it. If that were not bad enough, I know she left my dogs alone for long periods of time because my Springer is traumatized. He won't let me leave the house without barking uncontrollably and panting heavily. He has some anxiety but not like this! This sitter may have been good at some point or maybe your dog would be fine caged in a kennel for 3 days, the reason I chose her is her reviews. They do not reflect what I or my dogs experienced. No amount of money could compensate me for the damage this sitter might have potentially done to my dog. Joselyn you may disagree with my rating but what were you thinking? If you didn't have time to watch my dogs this last weekend (which by the way, requires you are with them) why did you say you were available and offer your services to me?

Schedule

When I am home, my attention is 100% on my animals. When I cannot be home, I have cameras in the house to monitor each room. My weekly schedule revolves around animals, I usually let each animal tell me what they want or need and go from there!

Safety, trust & environment

In my own home, everybody has their own space. With dogs, cats and bunnies, each animal has the ability to socialize or spend time on their own in their space. Each animal has been trained to appropriately interact with each other.

Pets

A typical day

On a typical day, the dogs go on a walk around the neighborhood and get a lickimat or frozen bowl for a meal. The cats get devoted time to play or explore new areas in the home. On weekends, I try to venture out and go on hikes and find new areas to take the dogs.
