I have a partially fenced in yard never leaving your pet unsupervised, or off-leash. The yard is used for very early morning or very late pee breaks. Otherwise, real walks are given. I don’t leave your pet for long lengths of time. I have an outdoor fenced deck perfect for a lounging dog.

Information Joanne O. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know if a pet likes other dogs and people (if not that's fine, I'll avoid them on our walks), prefers sleeping on my bed or in their crate or dog bed, what special commands the owner may use, what favorite spots the dog likes to be petted, what may frighten a pet whether a sound or object, the dog’s eating, sleeping and walking schedule, if it has blatter issues, what is the limit for treats per day, does the dog have separation anxiety, is the dog a barker, if afraid of thunder what’s the preferred comforting technique to use, is the pooch a “door darter” and if the pet is a severe puller while on leash. I will NEVER take your dog off leash while in my care, and automatically keep your pet away from children and other pets just in case….
A typical day
Here's where we'll take our walks: Tallman Mountain State Park, Flywheel Park, Half Moon Park and Piermont Pier (yes, all near me). My deck is a great place for dogs to lull around and be outdoors. One can see the Hudson River which is almost in my backyard. Your dog's sleeping arrangement; I do what you do in your home. Time I'll spend with your dog; I’m an artist working from home so we become roommates.

Pet care experience
I cater to owners who prefer their pets be in a quiet home during their visit. A professional pet sitter for thirty years, I treat every animal as if it were my own giving as much attention and love as I can, which is a lot since I have a big dent in my heart for ALL animals. I began pet sitting by fostering dogs and cats. Eventually when they were adopted, their new owners needed a pet sitter. In 2024, I was voted “Goat of my community” by Derek Jeter for the non-profit work I do as President of the Piermont Civic Association, flown to Miami for a private lunch with Derek Jeter and best part, receiving $1,000. to donate to the charity of my choice. I gave it to Snarr Northeast, an animal rehabilitation and rescue center in Westchester. Not to leave any creature out, I offer in-house visits for cats whom I bond with just as easily. I work from home most of the time, so unless I’m running local errands, I'm able to shower your pet with extra attention while you’re away. They’ll need it. Walks in Tallman Mountain State Park, a backyard for early morning or late night pees, one block from the large dog friendly Flywheel Park next to the Hudson River, and across the street from a park with one level of steps and the top level an open field, there are ample places to walk your pooch. If your pet sleeps in your bed, your pet sleeps in my bed. My home becomes your pet's home during the stay. I can administer oral medication, inject medication, and have cat and dog senior care experience. You'll be allowed to text whenever you need. I understand completely how you’re missing your pet. I send daily photos and messages as well. I live on the NY/NJ border 15 minutes north of the George Washington Bridge and 5 minutes from the Tappan Zee Bridge, so your pet can come to the ‘country’ and have its own vacation as well! I'm a former pre-school teacher and am very patient, considerate and understanding. I’m currently focusing on my art work. I know pet separation well, and sit with your pet until the anxiety subsides. My ‘regulars’ take the extra trip to my home from NYC, and Westchester knowing they'll get the best care for their pets. Your pooch is worth it. About this sitter: I avoid packing in dogs, preferring to sit for just one family’s pet(s) at a time, thwarting possible trouble when another’s family pet doesn’t get along, and allowing me to enjoy my visitor to the fullest. Drop offs after 9:00am and pick ups before 10:00pm preferred. Thank you Should your pooch not do well with other dogs or people, I have a private path to walk. I make sure your dog always has fresh water to drink, dry them off when wet from rain or snow, and TV will be on for them when I do errands unless they prefer listening to books on tape...... :) ROVER QUESTIONS Meet my pets: No pets of my own, just yours who become mine for a while, sometimes another pooch may overlap for their drop off or pick up date but I will always check with you prior. My experience administering medication: I have administered drugs from eye drops and pills, to giving pets insulin shots. I’ve had dogs with cancer, epilepsy, blindness, deafness, and dogs who have to be carried up and down my steps, of which there are only two. Thank you- -JoJo

Reviews

Joanne goes above and beyond for boarding! We did a meet and greet beforehand, she helped communicate what to expect when leaving our pup for the first time and communicated a lot while we were gone which helped calm our nerves. Marshall was in great hands and couldn’t have asked for a better person to leave him with. We would highly recommend her!
Joanne (JoJo) was great looking after our dog Bowie. She took very good care of our old, blind dog who needs eye drops. JoJo was very responsive in all our communications and provided frequent updates and pictures. We intend to book with her again in the future. Thanks, JoJo!
We just returned from a week away and it was my first time leaving Freddie with Joanne. I’m very happy to say it was a wonderful experience. I was a bit nervous leaving Freddie with someone new. He’s 11 years old now and can be a bit cranky sometimes. We had an initial meeting several weeks ahead of time at first and Joanne was very accommodating in spending some time with us again a week before my trip so that Freddie could be a bit more comfortable when I left him with her. Joanne obviously knows a lot about dogs and loves dogs. Freddie took to her right away and seemed very comfortable with her. She sent me pictures every day and messages about what was going on. Freddie got lots of walks, cuddles and love during his stay with Joanne. I would definitely leave Freddie with Joanne again and would highly recommend her to others.

We are so happy we found Joanne on Rover. Joanne has a true gift when it comes to dogs and understands their needs. We’ve left our Gemma with her for both long and short stays and our anxious dog comes home happy and un-stressed. Joanne showers her with love and provides a comfortable environment for our girl to feel secure outside of her home. Joanne is always very responsive and is great about sending pictures and updates. We will certainly be booking her again in the future.
