I work part-time from home and have a very friendly 3‑year‑old black Labrador. My husband is out at work during the day. I live in a small village with plenty of walks available and am at home most of the day. If I am out, there is a flap so your dog can enter or exit our small fenced back garden at their convenience. I have recently received a promo code from Rover which gives first time users £15 off. It is https://www.rover.com/sit/joannr10511 I usually take my dog, Poppy, for a long walk of about an hour late morning, followed by a shorter, more sociable walk in the evening, often to the village playing field where other dogs are playing. I do a mixture of on‑ and off‑lead walking but am flexible to your dog’s needs. Please note: Doggie Day Care is based on an 8‑hour slot (typically 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Additional hours may incur extra charges.

Access to all areas of the house. Dogs are not allowed on our bed but are welcome on the furniture. We have a fenced back garden with a flap so your dog can enter and exit at leisure. There are plenty of toys, including a tennis ball thrower that our dog will be happy to demonstrate. We live near Cornbury, so there are many lovely walks available. Dogs can be fed separately as our own dog has her own small bedroom. I can administer medication if needed. Please feel free to ask any questions or arrange a visit. I usually like to do a 24‑hour trial.

Poppy, our dog, is very playful and loves to make new friends. If your dog is older, smaller, or less energetic, I will adjust their exercise to suit their needs. I feed dry food twice daily and am happy to follow your dog’s usual feeding schedule. I can provide dry food, or you are welcome to bring your own to avoid disrupting your dog’s diet. I normally give a dental stick once a day and am fairly strict with treats as my own dog is a Labrador. I’m happy to give treats as your dog normally receives at home. Please let me know if your dog has any particular likes or dislikes. We have two small dogs next door who can be a bit yappy, but Poppy doesn’t react to them, and they often greet each other at the fence. Your dog will have unlimited access to the house and garden. If the neighbour’s dogs do start barking, your dog can go back inside, or they will likely be called in. Our neighbour on the other side rarely goes outside. We live on a quiet road in a small, peaceful, and very dog‑friendly village.
A typical day
There are many walks close by, which I like to vary. I usually take a long walk late morning, followed by a shorter one in the evening. My dog, Poppy, is very ball‑obsessed, so we often play ball on the village playing field before dinner. In the mornings, we tend to walk around the fields and through Cornbury Park, both on and off lead.

Pet care experience
Hi, my name is Joanna. I grew up in Australia, living a very outdoorsy life where I loved dogs, horses, and the occasional cat or three. I currently have a black, neutered female Labrador, 3.5 years old, whom we rescued at 11 months. She is very friendly with other dogs. We can come to your home, or ideally welcome your dog to ours. My husband works full-time outside the house, so I am available whilst you enjoy your holiday. Daily photographs can be supplied. Food can be provided if required, or I can keep to your dog’s normal feeding schedule. I am experienced in administering medication if needed. I live in Finstock with access to many lovely walks, including Cornbury. Poppy loves balls and toys. She is very energetic, but I am happy to shorten walks if your pet requires. We have a small fenced back garden with a hatch so your dog will always have access to a toileting area. If your dog is particularly social, we can meet up with a couple of other local dog owners on the village playing field for group play. I work from home, so I rarely leave the house for long periods of time, and I am happy to stay in if your dog is anxious or needs a couple of days to settle in. We allow dogs on the furniture and have spare dog beds and toys so your dog can make themselves at home. Equally, you are welcome to bring your own bed or toys so your dog has familiar smells with them.
Reviews

Joanna looked after Louie perfectly - he clearly had a great time and settled in well with Joanna's dog Poppy. Louie got lots of walks, playtime and attention and Joanna sent regular photos and updates. I would highly recommend Joanna.

What a sitter Nothing was too much trouble Sent photos of Bennie having a blast Was kindness itself and would def use again

We were really happy to leave Clemmie with Joanna for 4.5 weeks while we were visiting family in Australia. Joanna sent plenty of photos and videos which were very reassuring when we were so far away, Clemmmie was in lovely condition when we collected her and she loved having Joanna’s dog Poppy to play with. Thank you very much Joanna for loving and caring our dog. Neil and Sue Richardson.

Joanna was fantastic, very good communication and wonderful with our dog Moyo. Moyo is naturally quite nervous and Joanna handled this very well prioritising making him comfortable and at home. He has come home happy and more confident. She is flexible. Great sitter, thank you!
