Hi! I’m Joana, and I work as mechanical engineer living in Eindhoven. While my professional background is in engineering, animals have always been my true passion. Since childhood I always loved animals, and grew up with both dogs and cats. However, my first pet was a free-roaming rabbit named Maria who slept in my room and acted more like a dog than a bunny. I grew up in Portugal, where I became deeply involved in animal rescue in my hometown, where unfortunately there are a lot of stray animals. I fostered my first cat at 15 (it took a lot of convincing my parents!), and since then, I’ve cared for over 30 foster cats, many of them neonates or sick rescues, including pregnant cats that I've assisted during birth. Because of all of this, I am well versed in dealing with most cat illnesses, and I have a special needs cat myself :) I also worked closely with the local shelter in Portugal, supporting TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) programs, walking shelter dogs, and socializing shy or traumatized animals. Unfortnately, after moving to the Netherlands, I couldn't foster anymore, since I live in an apartment that doesn't allow that, but I do have 3 furr babies that I love more than words can express. However, I still volunteer at the shelter (ROZE) every Sunday where I clean the cat spaces, check health, and help socialize “spicy” cats and kittens. I know from experience how hard it can be to leave your pet at home while you're on holidays and how difficult it can be to find a trustworthy sitter for your pet. I truly think of pets as family members and treat them as such, so you can expect a lot of dedication from my side, and the comfort of knowing that your pet is in safe hands. I provide home visits, dog walks, and overnight stays depending on your needs. I'm especially comfortable with shy, senior, or special-needs animals, and I always treat pets with love, patience, and respect. I speak fluent English and Portuguese, so you can expect as many updates as you want while you are away. Let me know how I can help care for your furry family member!

We couldn’t have asked for a better cat sitter. Joana took amazing care of our two cats for 12 days over Christmas and New Year, always arriving on time and keeping us well updated. We really appreciated the regular photos and videos, which clearly showed how relaxed and happy the cats were. She spent lots of time playing with them and even brought along a toy that has become a new favourite! It was such a relief to know they were in such caring and attentive hands while we were away. We would happily recommend Joana to anyone looking for a reliable and loving sitter.
Mila was very lucky to have Joana taking care of her during our vacation. She cleaned Mila’s eyes and litter box, and played with her using different toys. We received daily videos of Mila, and it was clear she enjoyed her time a lot. Thank you!
Joana was an incredible pet sitter! She absolutely spoiled my cats while we were away and sent us so many videos every day. My cats loved playing with her and getting extra attention. Joanna is amazing ❤️ I really felt like she took very good care of the cat. It wasn’t just a short visit to give food and check how they were doing. She was sending constant updates pics and videos. I felt like she was babysitting also me in distance at the same time, as a new cat- anxious mum that I’m. Highly recommended. She is really loves animals, and you can see it from how she establishes a relationship with them❤️ 10/10
Joana is a kind and caring person who truly goes above and beyond when it comes to looking after fluffy friends. She volunteers at the shelter on Sundays, which shows her genuine dedication to making the lives of our small furry friends better. At home, her three cats are happy and healthy, due to the love and attention she gives them. Joana also has valuable medical experience for taking care of friends who need that extra care. She is flexible with planning, so things can always be arranged. What’s even better is that she not only takes care of our little friends but also makes sure the home is looked after as well. I couldn’t recommend her more highly!

Zeitplan
I work from home most days so taking care of pets is quite easy for me. It doesn't feel like a job, more of a break from my daily work as an engineer :) I have my own three cats, one with special needs, so I am very used to balancing my work life with my animal's life, who I truly consider my family 💕

Having my own fur babies, and rescuing cats and dogs for as long as I can remember, I know how difficult it is to trust your pet to a stranger. I will care for your pet as if it was my own and provide you with as many updates as necessary to make you feel comfortable leaving your precious baby with me 🤍 I truly care and love animals and I like to think pets can sense that when they meet me, I hope you can see that as well :) I also always do a meetup before booking so you and I can decide if it is the right fit for everyone involved 🥰

Ein typischer Tag
Even though I live in an apartment, I’m lucky to have a vast outdoor area right outside my door, with forests, lakes, and dog-friendly cafés ☺️ When your dog stays with me, we’ll enjoy long walks through the forest paths, playtime by the lakes, and plenty of sniffing and exploring to keep them happy and stimulated. At home, I make sure your dog has a calm, safe, and cozy environment to rest in between outings. I love to balance physical exercise with mental stimulation, whether that’s through basic training practice, puzzle toys, or simply lots of love and attention. And if your pet is more of a cuddle bug, I’m just as happy to spend quiet time indoors making them feel at home. Every dog is different, so I always adapt my day to your dog's and to their usual routine!
