Safety, trust & environment

Safety is our main priority. We don't have any pets of our own right now but when we did, they were never out in the yard unattended. Pets have a way of getting into trouble very easily so I was always watching mine and I would be watching yours at all times as well. The yard is very secure so there is no issue there. IMPORTANT to know about your pet's stay in my home is that if you have a HIGH ENERGY pet (over 12 lbs.) who needs lots of space to run, this is probably not the best choice. (I find that for high energy dogs, walks are not enough. Even in the house, they are needing to expend that energy!)

Information Joan B. would like to know about your pet

It is essential to know exactly how the animal is to be feed. Having this written out would be helpful - Amounts, Time of Day, Any Eating Issues Is the dog fearful of certain things Does the dog get along with other dogs Can the dog cohabitate with cats Is the dog ever aggressive towards people Is the dog in good health Has the dog experienced boarding before and how did he/she adjust to it Has the dog experienced being separated from the owner before and how does he/she handle it Any potty habits that would be important to know I would welcome knowing any information that would help make the stay more comfortable for your pet.

A typical day

If a little car ride is permitted for your pet, we know of several ideal dog walking areas that have plenty of shade and grass and are low in pedestrian and animal traffic which makes for a more enjoyable walk. Our own gated neighborhood has enough grass and shade for nice walks too. We have plenty of toys to keep our furry guests entertained and we will love interacting with them. They are each so individual in personality and that is so much fun and interesting to see.

Competent, Loving Care for Your Pet

Pet care experience

Retired now from managing my husbands medical office and making sure patients were taken care of, I can now devote full time to the needs of our furry guests. As an animal lover for all of my life, I have had dogs, cats, (many rescues) birds, hamsters, frogs, fish and a snake, so I have cared for animals at all stages of life. Every morning my husband and I are out walking (hour or less depending on our pets wishes) on our favorite quiet, shaded street with lots of grass where we seldom see anyone. We can do shorter evening walks as well. In between walks, the small, secure and private yard is available for our little guests. Besides caring for our own pets, I have often been asked to pet sit for family and friends. Each pet is so individual with it's own unique personality and I find such pleasure in learning about each one. To me they are such a wonderful and special gift!

I can’t recommend Joan enough! Absolutely 5 stars, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Leaving my two cats for 4 nights is never something I take lightly, but from the very beginning, I felt completely at ease. She was incredibly kind and accommodating on short notice when I needed to extend their stay last minute which I really appreciated. Communication was consistent and thoughtful, with updates and photos that reassured me they were not only safe, but genuinely comfortable and cared for. When I picked them up, they were calm, happy, and completely themselves, which says everything. Reliable, kind, and clearly experienced—I wouldn’t have anyone else look after my boys! I highly recommend to anyone looking for someone who will treat their pets like their own.

I can not express how wonderful of an experience it was to leave my cat with Joan and her husband. They were just the best. They sent me pictures and updates daily on how my cat was doing. I would highly recommend them and will definitely book them again.
