Safety, trust & environment

I have a high fenced yard that your dogs can potter and take loo break on, and I live close to a variety of walks that are good for on or off leash exercise (I know all the good quiet spots nearby if your dog needs some off leash time to burn energy without distractions). I’m happy to do on or off leash walks, whatever you’re more comfortable with, and whatever meets your dogs needs. As I have cared for several older dogs of my own I am also happy to administer any medications or ensure special diets are adhered too.

Information Jo W. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your dog has any special needs, including diet, medication and temperament. My specialism is sighthounds but I'm versed and comfortable with all sizes and breeds of dogs, from the very little, to the very large (see my profile pic, with my gentle giant, Czar the Borzoi, now at Rainbow Bridge). Due to the size of our home and garden we cannot accept giant breeds, and unfortunately no Huskies, Alsatians or GSD’s, as one of our dogs has a vendetta against fluffy energetic breeds of this ilk.

A typical day

There is lots of variation for walks around my home, we can do short walks in the park for low energy or senior dogs - or sighthounds that just needs quick zoomies burst! Or we can do longer walks exploring the woods, fields and streams. We live close to a back entrance to Sherwood Pines so if your dogs are up for a long walk, we often go there for a couple of hours. I'm happy to play games with your fur baby if that's what they like, or just leave them to have peaceful snoozes.

Lifelong dog lover & sighthound specialist!

Pet care experience

I have been a sighthound lover and owner for the past 15 years, being the guardian of Greyhounds, Lurchers, Galgos and a beautiful Borzoi. I'm happy to look after other types of dogs, but I have a particular awareness of how sensitive (and quite different to other breeds) sighthounds can be. I know their little idiosyncrasies and understand their needs (usually zoomies then cuddles and lots of peaceful chill time!) In fact I love dogs so much that even when I go on holiday, I always make sure to find out where the local dog shelter is so I can volunteer to walk some fur babies while I'm away as well.

Jo was great and really helped me last minute. Kept updating me with Cardi's stay and she looked very happy and at ease. Jo replied quickly and I'm sure Cardi loved her stay.
