Safety, trust & environment

During your travel time your pet will enjoy the space and comfort of their own home and have fresh water and food as normal. Keeping your pet happy and active, just as you want, is my goal.

Information Jim & Julie P. would like to know about your pet

Let me know how your dog likes to be approached and greeted, what activities your dog likes, what foods and snacks are allowed, bedtime, things your dog prefers, like a scratch behind the ears ... our Boxer liked his hips rubbed for example ... if your dog has a special nickname or special place they like to rest. I also want to have the name of their veterinarian. I have never had to call one yet, but want the information if needed. For special needs: I do not have medical training for dogs. Having raised pets, I know how to entice them to take medicine and can follow instructions. However, I need to know ahead of time if your pet has a condition or needs medical care which I cannot provide. I would rather the pet stay with someone trained in dog CPR if they are very sick. Let me know the name of your veterinarian if there are any concerns.

A typical day

I can provide walks in your area where your dog is used to being. I like tossing a ball or frisbee with sporty dogs, whatever makes them happy. I like to read, do art illustration, and do design work if I am house sitting. When I do this, your dog(s) will be happy and right beside me.

Pet care experience

When help is needed and you have to be away from your pet family, I can provide your fur family with love, attention, and the safe home routine they are used to enjoying. I have a special compassion for animals, and my wife, Julie, and I have had several pets through the years, training them as pups and kittens, and caring for them later as elderly pets. For your pets, I will provide fresh water, food as required, play time, and some quiet petting and conversation time. My pets always love being talked to and getting special treats. I will make sure they feel loved even by a new friend. My wife and I retired and worked through Rover in the Joplin, Missouri area. In 2025, we decided to move near our son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughters in Tulsa. No longer homeowners, but townhouse renters, we are unable to board dogs anymore. My intention now is to provide an occasional house sitting or pet visiting service for others. For many years prior to retirement, we struggled with decisions for pet care if we wanted a vacation. We understand that pets are family, and it is one of the biggest challenges to travel plans. Attention is what your pet will get when I house sit or make visits. When you book me, it is not to have your dog crated all day or put in a room. I am actively available to your fur family. I can take your baby for a walk if you would like. I will follow your directions and do my best to make them feel they are getting as much of their comforting routine as possible. I am the primary pet sitter you will have when you book me. I include photos of my wife, as well, because occasionally she will pop in to give some added pets and kisses to the dogs or she may fill in for me for a few hours if I have another appointment. She will usually be home taking care of our Liza and our cats.

Jim & Julie were just what we needed! Jim took wonderful care of our three dachshunds--one of whom was newly adopted and needed extra attention. We came home to find that all three were very happy and the new girl is even more adapted to her new environment. We couldn't have asked for more. We felt so much more comfortable being away with the daily updates and photos being such a comfort. Plus the house was in great shape when we returned--well cared for and super fresh. Nice to come home to! Many thanks to Jim & Julie!

Just a great and easy experience. Jim was wonderful; very attentive to my pups with daily walks (including pulling my older girl in a wagon so she could partake). Great communication, both with me and as well as with the girls, and left the home better than he found it. I’ll be reaching out to him again soon for my next need.

Jim is an amazing sitter and a pretty good photographer. We received updates and photos daily. Returning home we could hardly tell he had stayed in our home. And the best part was the pets were happy, no pouting or hiding. Will definitely use Jim again.
