Safety, trust & environment

Since I live in a basement apartment (with 2 cats), I wouldn't be available to offer services out of my own home. However, I make it a habit to take care of daily hygiene (eg. cleaning litter boxes, brushing, nail clipping depending on temperament, etc.), feeding according to instructions and schedules, and ensuring pets get an adequate amount of play and exercise. I've found that the more play and activity an animal does during the day can greatly impact their temperament and sleep.

Information Jillian W. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know the key things about your pet such as medications, food schedule/ portions, any triggers they may have, if there are certain things your pet tries to do even if they’re not allowed, or anything else you deem important. I also understand how important rituals can be for our pets! So if your pet has any ‘strange’ preferences (eg. my cat loves when I tap her tail bone and sing the ‘Cups’ song to her lol), please let me know and I will try and give your pet their special routine!

A typical day

First and foremost, I highly value the importance of affection! Immediately upon greeting your pet, pets, belly rubs, and giving your animal affection in the way they want it is crucial! Knowing how lonely and under stimulating being cooped up at home without interaction can be, I want to make your pet feel loved and the Center of attention for as long as they need it! Afterwards, care is the next step. Ensuring a clean environment (litter, bowls, any messes that may have happened while they were alone), refilling food and water (based on their instructions), and double checking the home to see if any mischief was accomplished while alone. Third step is exercise and play! Whether it’s playing fetch, tug of war, dangling toys or using stimulating games like ‘find the treat’, I try to engage your pet in ways that hopefully, they’ll feel satisfied and that their extra energy has been spent. And of course, giving pets and lovings whenever they need it!

Pet care experience

From the moment they enter our world/life till the moment they cross the rainbow bridge, I've learned so much from these beautiful creatures we adopt into our family. My latest family dog, an energetic and excited border collie, helped me truly understand the importance of stability, love, exercise, and play, especially for energetic or working dog breeds. From puppy to senior care, I've done it all and loved being the two-legged buddy to our furry friends! After moving out to university, I've found myself ending up, in one way or another, fostering cats that have unfortunately ended up with nowhere else to go. Knowing I couldn't turn away a soul in need, I've learned so much more about cats, especially when they're in a new environment/ around new people. Showing stability, consistency, love, and respect has so far earned me beautiful bonds with every cat I've spent time with, whether in my own home or in the homes of others. I'm confident I can take care of your little loved ones and hopefully make your stay away from your home and pet(s) at least a little bit easier!

This was our first time using Rover, and Jillian made it a great experience! She was right on time and immediately our dog Mylo felt comfortable with her. When we got home Mylo was happy and clearly very well taken care of. We will absolutely be booking again!

I would highly recommend Jillian, she took excellent care of my two cats, Barney and Reggie. It was clear from all the pictures she sent that they enjoyed her company, getting lots of pets, cuddles and playtime. She was also kind enough to give my plants a water and they thrived too!

I met Jill in 2024 at our workplace and quickly became close friends! When my family and I fell on hard times and ended up in a housing situation that didn't allow us to bring our family cat, Echo, an adorable tortie, with us, Jill was the only person I trusted to ask to take Echo in temporarily. I knew she was an animal lover and had experience owning/hosting both cats and dogs previously, and I knew she would take good care of our sweet girl. Originally, Jill was only going to take Echo for a few weeks while my family and I looked for a more permanent foster home for Echo until we could find a stable home for all of us. After spending time with Echo and learning of her history (we had originally rescued Echo years prior from an abusive situation), she offered to keep Echo in her care until we could find a home. This meant so much to me and my family, knowing someone else had the best interest at heart for our sweet kitty, and offered a safe and stable environment for her to be loved and cared for. Jill and her partner took care of our Echo for over a year until we were able to move to a better place, and I am forever grateful for the care and love she showed our baby girl!

A few years ago, while at university, I was overworked with school, family, jobs, and life and couldn't care for both my beautiful cats. It broke my heart but I had to give up my beautiful black part Maine Coon, Lincoln. I asked Jill to take care of him for a few days while I look for a home for him. After about a week with no new home for him, Jill immediately volunteered to take over as his indefinite foster mom when I told her I'd have to take him to a shelter. She welcomed him into her home fully and treated him like he was her own, giving him the much love and TLC he deserved. Even after I moved away, she kept me updated on how he was doing, and eventually, some information on the kind couple that ended up adopting him. I'm so grateful for her kindness and willingness to accept this cat into her home and care so quickly, and for giving my sweet Link a loving home before finding his fur-ever home
