Dog loving household for your pup

We grew up with dogs and love having them around. We enjoy opening up our home and taking care of some furry friends and have a ton of experience dog sitting. We foster dogs through a local rescue, so we're confident any DC dog could be comfortable in our home. We have a 4 year old lab mix who likes to host playmates, but is also respectful of dogs' space if they prefer to have a leisurely stay with us. We're able to work on any training and will crate your dog upon request, or give them access to roam depending on your preference! Most importantly, we have experience handling behavior issues like leash reactivity and separation anxiety, please mention those when booking so we can be prepared to make your dog feel the most comfortable they can when they're away from home. We understand that leash reactivity and dog aggression are different, so while we can sit for a dog that's leash reactive, we unfortunately cannot host a dog that is dog aggressive. If there are any training methods you've been working on with your dog, let us know, and we'd be happy to ensure we are reinforcing the training you've been working on with your dog. Please note: dog-boarding does not mean we will be home 100% of the time and we are happy to discuss your expectations and our boarding set up. For boarding (half days may result in an additional fee. example: saturday 8am drop off and a sunday 10pm pick up is 1.5 days). We can be flexible knowing that delays can happen when traveling!

Jill and her husband and their pup provided great care watching our dog this weekend! Lots of walks, play time and adventures! They have a great fenced in backyard that our dog loved! Communication was easy and they sent along lots of pictures!

We had a really great experience with Jill! Before meeting Jill and Seneca, I was a bit nervous about my dog Oliver staying overnight with another dog, since Oliver is a senior and I was a little concerned about how he would interact with a more energetic younger dog. Turns out that Seneca seemed to be the perfect match in size and personality. In fact, they kind of looked like twins! I could tell everything was going to be okay when Oliver didn't notice I had left when I dropped him off. Jill kept us updated throughout the stay with photos and texts and was attuned to keeping up with his meds. I think he got a few extra walks --- more than he normally does --- plus the royal treatment of getting to sleep with Jill. My guess is that he had a lot more fun with Jill than he has at home!

We had such a great experience boarding our dog Oswald with Jill. We had to board our dog at the very last minute and we are so thankful that Jill was able to accommodate us. When I got to her apartment I was put at ease immediately since Jill asked the right questions and really seemed concerned about Oswald's needs. When we were gone we received frequent text updates and photos which I really appreciated. What struck me the most after picking Oswald up is that he seemed both happy and calm. He can be a nervous dog and in boarding him with others in the past he has always seemed very anxious to be reunited with his owners. This was not true with his stay with Jill. I could tell that he was very well taken care of and I would recommend Jill to anyone. We will certainly board Oswald with her in the future!

I recently adopted a 3 year old rescue (Millie) who had a rough start to life so she requires a dog sitter who is extra patient and gentle. Jill actually was Millie's foster mom before I adopted her and I can't say enough great things about her! She is extremely sweet and great with dogs! She was so incredibly patient with Millie when she was afraid of basically everything. She's provided lots of advice even after I adopted Millie. Millie was on heartworm treatment when she was with Jill and she was great about taking care of a dog with medical needs. I now use Jill as a dog sitter and dog walker. Millie is always happy to see her :) and Jill is extremely reliable. She works from home sometimes so she is able to come stay with Millie when I work long days (which has been amazing!). Millie was so lucky to have Jill as a foster mom and I am soooo lucky that she is still a part of our life!

A typical day

We just moved to the Riverdale Park neighborhood with a big fenced in yard. The fence is 4 feet tall though, so we'll be cautious about letting your dog off-leash (to avoid fence jumps!) and they will never be outside unsupervised. There's a dog park nearby if your dog wants to play with some more energetic pups, although we typically go at quieter hours.
