Pet care experience

Relax, we'll have a ball!

I grew up tagging along with my mom to dog shows, so I’ve spent time around all kinds of breeds and personalities. And yes—dog show life is pretty similar to the movie Best in Show! That background has given me a great understanding of canine instincts and temperaments, and I do my best to accommodate each dog’s unique needs so they feel completely comfortable. I started pet sitting for family friends as a teenager, and I’ve continued doing it ever since. I have experience caring for senior pups as well as dogs with medical or special needs. I truly believe every dog is an individual, and I tailor my care to match their personality and routines. I also have experience with aquariums, rodents, reptiles, and birds, so if you have additional small or exotic pets, I’m happy to care for them too. My kids (ages 7 and 11) live with me and are wonderful with dogs. Because of this, any pup we board should be kid-friendly. We also share our home with Mr. Mittens, our laid-back cat, who has lived peacefully with many dogs. If preferred, he can be kept separate during your pet’s stay.

Jill is the answer to your pet sitting needs! She is very knowledgeable about pet care. She has cared for our cat several times and is attentive and loving. I absolutely trust her with our cat who is like family. She also has experience with dogs and they will recieve great care.

Jill was great with Snow and Siren and really went above and beyond while we were away. We had an unexpected issue where our cleaning ladies accidentally locked her out, and she still figured out a way to get in and make sure the cats were taken care of. She sent us pictures and updates every day, noticed when they didn’t seem to be eating enough, and made sure their automatic feeders were plugged back in and working. She even let us know about a possible leak after some heavy rain and always made sure the alarm was set before she left. Jill was incredibly attentive and took great care of both our cats and our home. We would absolutely use her again!

I highly recommend Jill as a responsible, loving, and trustworthy pet caregiver. They cared for our cat and dog during a particularly important and hectic time for our family, right after my wife gave birth. They were attentive to both pets’ needs, dependable, and genuinely caring. It gave us tremendous peace of mind knowing our pets were in such good hands while we focused on our new baby. I would happily trust them with our pets again.

I have an enormous, moody Chocolate Lab who absolutely ADORES Jill. I know when she watches him that he is going to get lots of one-on-one attention, tons of exercise and love, and overall great care. Jill is a dog person through and through (though she stops short of being one of those weird fanatical dog people...), and it is reflected in the quality of care she provides my dog and other dogs that she's watched. I've recommended her to friends and wouldn't hesitate to leave Oly with her again and again (in fact, I think he's happier being pampered by her than at home being tortured by our toddler).

Jill has a gentle authority with dogs and they love her to pieces. She dogsitted my dog, a slightly crazy spaniel, on occasion for several years and took care of him two days a week for nine months when I went back to college for a stint. It was a great relief for me that I could rely on her during that time! You can tell that she has been around dogs her entire life - she is as tolerant of the little idiosyncrasies of each individual dog as well as of their owner's.

Jill is one of the few people that I am overly comfortable leaving my highly revered and very spoiled puggle with. She is truly an animal lover and will provide your pet with so much love. I would highly recommend her - she is reliable, trustworthy and one of my dog's favorite people!

Schedule

I think I was born in a whelping box.... or at least near one. My mother has shown dogs my whole life, and I grew up going to dog shows. I have extensive knowledge of a variety of dog breeds and love working with a full spectrum of dogs. I have personally lived with retrievers, shepherds, Portuguese water dogs, hounds, and pugs, and a variety of quirky mutts. I am currently without a dog and would love to spread some of my misplaced adoration to your pets.

Safety, trust & environment

My experience administering medication I have administered pills, shots, ear/eye drops, creams, etc. over the years. I also owned a dog who went blind, and I have a soft spot for special-needs dogs. On the first day your pet is with us, I pay close attention to what they are interested in and adjust things as needed.

Pets

A typical day

I can adhere to most schedules, but I believe dogs deserve at least 2 extended social and walking interactions a day, minimum... if they're into that sort of thing. Generally, I'm in the office (1 mile from home) 4 days a week and at home on Fridays. I can often make special accommodations to come home at lunch for walks or WFH for dogs that may need some extra attention. I love throwing the ball, playing frisbee, long walks for all the sniffs, or just a snuggle session at home. Extra tasks aren't a problem... within reason. I'm happy to pop by for plant care, aquarium care, birds, reptiles, small mammals, etc.

It is good for owners to share any "quirks" and/or personality traits of their dogs. Just like people, animals have their own personalities, and it is really helpful to know a little about them up front. Just like people, animals all have their own way of doing things. The more you share, the more I can ensure a great experience for your pooch.
