Pet care experience

Family run Doggie Hotel

I have over 10 years' experience caring for dogs of all shapes and sizes. My knowledge has been built through years of owning dogs, fostering rescue dogs, attending training classes and continuously learning about canine behaviour and welfare. I'm passionate about understanding dogs and creating a calm, safe environment where they can feel relaxed and at home. Both my partner and I hold enhanced DBS checks. I work from home with flexible hours, so your dog will have plenty of company throughout the day. We have one friendly resident dog who loves relaxing on the sofa, snoozing in his bed and joining us on walks around the local area. Whilst we welcome requests for both male and female dogs, our resident dog generally gets on best with females, so these requests are our preference. Every dog is assessed on an individual basis, and we always arrange a meet and greet before confirming a booking to make sure everyone is happy and comfortable. For stays of five nights or longer, we recommend a trial overnight stay where possible. This gives us the opportunity to get to know your dog's personality and routine while helping them become familiar with us and our home before a longer stay. We have a fully fenced, secure garden with 6ft fencing, and the back gate is always kept locked. Dogs are supervised whenever they're together, and if we're unable to supervise them, they are safely separated to ensure everyone's comfort and safety. Over the past five years, we've fostered several rescue dogs, helping them build confidence and prepare for life in their forever homes. This experience has taught us how to read canine body language, recognise when a dog needs space or reassurance, and adapt our approach to suit each dog's individual personality and needs.

Our Border Terrier Indie spent a day with Jessie as his first visit. He was relaxed and happy when we picked him up and we appreciated the photos and update which Jessie sent in the middle of the day.

My dog Juno stayed with Jessie Louise for four nights and had a lovely time! Jessie Louise made sure Juno felt relaxed and safe and also took her out to the forest and allowed her to safely roam and chase the ball while on a long lead. She also sent regular updates of photos and videos and was very communicative and responsive to Juno’s needs. Would definitely recommend!

Badger had another great stay with Jessie Louise and was so content he spent most of the time snoozing in his basket and was most unimpressed by the need to leave and come back to his real home! Jessie Louise is clearly an extremely caring and welcoming host and I would thoroughly recommend her doggie hotel

Schedule

As I work from home, your dog will be part of my daily routine and will rarely be short of company. They're welcome to relax beside me in my home office while I work or find a cosy spot elsewhere in the house, whatever makes them feel most comfortable. There is usually someone at home throughout the day. On the rare occasion we pop out in the evening, it's typically for no more than an hour or two. We have an indoor camera so we can check in while we're away, giving us extra peace of mind. Please note we can not accept dogs with severe separation anxiety.

Safety, trust & environment

The safety and wellbeing of every dog in our care is always our top priority. Dogs are never left unsupervised together, we will seperate them if we need to leave them unattended until we feel 100% comfortable that they will be okay together unattended. We have a fully secure garden provides a safe space for them to explore, play and relax. We live in a quiet neighbourhood with several lovely walking routes nearby, allowing us to tailor walks to each dog's needs, confidence and energy levels. We keep our home calm and predictable, helping dogs settle in quickly and build trust with us. Fresh water is always available, feeding routines either twice or three times a day, and there is plenty of time to rest and chill out. To minimise the risk of conflict between dogs, we carefully manage interactions and generally avoid high-value toys or games in shared spaces, helping to prevent resource guarding. Every dog is treated as an individual, and we take the time to understand their personality, routine and preferences so they feel safe, secure and happy throughout their stay.

Pets

A typical day

Our day usually starts with a morning walk before work, followed by regular toilet breaks throughout the day and walks tailored to each dog's individual needs. In the evenings, we love exploring Romsey on foot or, on colder nights, curling up on the sofa with a film or Netflix. Your dog will simply become part of our daily life, enjoying a calm, safe and loving home while they're with us. At weekends, we often head out to explore somewhere new, whether that's a local woodland, country park, or another dog-friendly walking spot. We love giving dogs plenty of opportunities to sniff, explore and enjoy new surroundings, while always keeping their individual needs, confidence and owner's preferences in mind.

Before your dog's stay, I'd love to get to know them so I can make them feel as comfortable as possible. Please let me know about their usual routine, feeding schedule, any allergies or dietary requirements, and any behaviours or training needs I should be aware of. It's also really helpful to know how they are around other dogs, people and different environments, along with anything that helps them settle or anything they find worrying. The more I know in advance, the better I can tailor their stay and make sure they feel safe, relaxed and at home. To help your dog settle in, they should be comfortable sleeping in a separate room rather than in the bedroom with people. If this isn't something they're used to, I'd recommend introducing this at home before their stay to make the transition as smooth as possible. Please be open and honest about any separation anxiety or behavioural concerns your dog may have. We will always do our best to accommodate their needs where possible, but we are unable to board dogs with severe separation anxiety or dogs whose anxiety is likely to result in destructive behaviour or significant distress when left alone. To ensure the safety of all dogs in our care and our home, it is important that any behavioural issues are disclosed before booking. If damage is caused as a result of undisclosed separation anxiety or behavioural issues, we reserve the right to ask pet parents to cover the cost of any repairs or replacements.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
