Since I work remotely, I’m able to prioritize pet care throughout my day. I plan my schedule around walks, feeding routines, playtime, and check-ins so pets receive consistent care and attention. Being home during the day also means pets aren’t left alone for long periods and can stick closely to their normal routines.

Safety, trust & environment

Pet safety and comfort are always my top priorities. Because I work remotely, I’m home frequently and able to notice quickly if something seems off with a pet’s behavior, appetite, or energy. If a concern comes up, I’ll first contact the owner right away to keep them informed and follow any instructions they’ve provided. If veterinary care is needed, I’m comfortable transporting pets to a vet or emergency clinic and making sure they get prompt care. I’ve had pets my whole life—including three dogs and a cat—so I’m very used to paying attention to small changes that might indicate a pet needs extra care or attention. I’m also careful about maintaining routines, monitoring food and water, and creating a calm environment so pets feel secure while their owners are away. Clear communication is really important to me, so I always keep owners updated with messages and photos. My goal is for owners to feel completely at ease knowing their pet is being cared for attentively and responsibly.

Information Jessica Y. would like to know about your pet

Before caring for a pet, I like to learn as much as possible about their routine and personality so I can make the experience comfortable and stress-free for them. It’s especially helpful to know their feeding schedule, exercise needs, favorite activities, and any quirks or habits they might have. I also like to know about any medical needs, medications, allergies, or behavioral triggers so I can make sure they stay safe and well cared for. Understanding how they interact with other animals, strangers, or new environments is helpful too. Most importantly, I want to know what makes your pet happiest—whether that’s a certain walking route, a favorite toy, or their preferred cuddle spot. My goal is always to keep pets as close to their normal routine as possible so they feel safe and relaxed while you’re away.

A typical day

A typical day starts with breakfast, a walk or outdoor time, and a morning check-in. Because I work remotely, I’m home most of the day, so pets get regular attention, play breaks, and companionship rather than being left alone for long periods. I like to mix in fun activities depending on the pet—walks, exploring green spaces, playing fetch, interactive toys, or brushing and cuddle time. Animals have been part of my life since I was young (I was the kid rescuing frogs and helping injured birds), so paying attention to their comfort and routines comes naturally to me. My goal is always to keep pets happy, relaxed, and feeling loved while their owners are away.

Pet care experience

I’ve loved animals for as long as I can remember. Growing up in the Midwest, I was the kid rescuing frogs from neighbors’ window wells after rainstorms and carefully caring for injured baby birds before returning them to the wild. That deep love and respect for animals has stayed with me throughout my life. I’ve lived with pets most of my life and have cared for three dogs and a cat of my own. I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, relaxed, and loved while their humans are away. I have experience with a range of dogs including senior dogs, dogs post surgery, and puppies in training. I’ll apologize in advance if I say hello to your dog before I say hello to you! Professionally, I’m a researcher at University of California, Los Angeles, and I bring that same level of responsibility, attentiveness, and reliability into pet care. I understand how important trust, communication, and consistency are when someone is caring for your pets and home. I’m also a responsible homeowner and have lived in the Midwest, Southeast, and Pacific Northwest, so I’m comfortable caring for homes in different environments and routines. I’m respectful of people’s spaces, detail-oriented, and aim to leave both pets and homes happy, clean, and well cared for. I’d love the opportunity to care for your pets as if they were my own.

Jessica was an amazing sitter for my fluffy pupson! She communicated clearly, flexible, and kind. I can tell he was loved properly and enjoyed his time there. Looking forward to using her services again.
