Dogs, Cats, Exotics- Oh My!
Hi there! I've been a proud and responsible dog + cat owner for over 25 years (plus snakes!), with over 15 years experience care-taking pet fish, birds, rats, hamsters, snakes, leopard geckos, frogs, turtles, and more! I'm also a wildlife biologist and small business owner of a human-bear conflict prevention start-up (see "Wild Neighbor"), as well as a previous zookeeper and animal trainer! I have 20 years of experience working with all sizes of California native wildlife and exotic mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and arachnids in zoos, nature centers, and museums. I hold a B.S. in Wildlife Management from Humboldt State University and am a graduate of the Exotic Animal Training and Management (EATM) Program at Moorpark College. I'm an avid hiker, explorer, and naturalist, and I LOVE spending time with all kinds of animals both outdoors and indoors! Safety, trust & environment
I always approach my pets with love and consideration not only for their mental health, but for their physical health, as well! Treats are a must, as is access to viewing windows (to keep an eye on the outside world when I'm away), cozy spots for sleeping, fans when the weather gets warm and soooo many blankets and beds when it's chilly. Water and food bowls are cleaned daily, and walks (for the dog, at least!) are kept to a consistent morning, afternoon, and evening schedule.

Jessica West has always had a special rapport with animals- they seem to trust her instinctively and know that she cares about them. In addition to being a loving dog owner herself she is also an alumni of the Moorpark College EATM program, where she had the valuable experience of handling and caring for the needs of many different species of exotic animals.

Schedule
I am a small business owner and work from home - while sometimes I am needed in the field, I'm grateful that my schedule is super flexible and allows me to operate my startup while also spending time with pets!

As a dog owner of a senior pup who is not dog friendly, I am keenly aware of what I need to do as a responsible dog owner when it comes to medical, physical, and mental needs for my sensitive pup, and have no issues considering what it takes to keep your pets safe, happy, and healthy!
