Safety, trust & environment

I offer flexible pet care services, including drop-ins, check-ins, and overnight stays to ensure your pets are happy and comfortable in their own home while you’re away. While I’m unable to provide boarding at this time, I’m fully dedicated to offering reliable and loving care tailored to your pet’s needs.

Information Jessica V. would like to know about your pet

Let me know if your pet has any special needs, medical conditions, or specific behaviors I should be aware of to ensure their safety and comfort. I'm happy to work with dogs and cats of all breeds and temperaments, and I'll tailor my care to meet their unique personality and routine.

A typical day

A Day in the Life with Me as Your Pet Care Specialist Morning: Your pet starts the day with plenty of attention, a fresh bowl of water, and a meal served just the way they like it. Afterward, we’ll enjoy some morning exercise, whether it’s a walk, a play session, or some quiet time to ease into the day. Afternoon: Midday includes a check-in to ensure they’re happy and relaxed. I’ll engage them with their favorite activities, whether it’s tossing a ball, a puzzle toy, or a little extra snuggle time for the more laid-back pets. Evening: Dinner is served on schedule, and we’ll wind down with some light play, cuddles, or a relaxing walk to help them settle in for the night. If I’m staying overnight, I’ll make sure they’re comfortable, safe, and surrounded by love until morning. Throughout the day, I’ll provide regular updates, photos, and communication, so you’ll always know your pet is in good hands. My goal is to make their time with me as stress-free and enjoyable as possible!

Pet care experience

Let’s be honest: in today’s economy, the cost of living is out of control, and everything is ridiculously overpriced. I don’t think pet care should be one of those things that drains your bank account. What sets me apart is that I view pet sitting as a mutually beneficial arrangement, not a corporate cash cow. To me, spending time with animals and keeping a home secure is an easygoing, rewarding job, and being paid for it is honestly a bonus. Because I don't look at your pets as a massive paycheck, I keep my rates low and accessible. You get premium, dedicated, and loving care for your pets without the inflated, gouged prices you see everywhere else right now. It’s simple: high-quality care shouldn’t cost a fortune, especially when things are already tough out there. As a dedicated pet sitter, I specialize in building trust. Your pet’s happiness and comfort are my top priorities, and I follow your instructions to the letter—your do’s and don’ts become my guide to ensuring your pet’s care mirrors the same love and attention you provide. My goal is to act as a temporary substitute parent, so your pet hardly notices your absence. I also understand that pets thrive on familiarity. Whether it’s their favorite toy, daily routine, or special quirks, I make it my mission to keep everything just as they like it. From belly rubs to bedtime rituals, I’ll ensure your pet feels as safe and loved as if you were there. With experience, attention to detail, and a true passion for animals, I aim to give you peace of mind so you can focus on your time away. Whether you’re gone for a day or a week, you can rest assured your pet will receive personalized care, endless affection, and a companion they can trust.

Initially I was excited to find Jessica who was willing to take a last minute cat booking, for a reasonable price. Admittedly there was miscommunications on both sides as I did not realize I had accidentally booked her for sitting rather than visits. That being said there was no discussion concerning accommodations, and my bed was left in a dirty and disorganized state (that didn’t give the impression it was made up for company) so naturally I was stunned to learn that she had spent the booking “living” in my home while I was out of town. Other red flags included missing our first meeting, being an hour late for our second meeting, at one point indicating she may have lost my key, criticizing Rover’s policies, asking to get paid under the table, and requesting to privately message, rather than over the app. Additionally, not modifying the booking time on the app when I requested it, and leaving a bunch of lights on in my home, were also concerns. Most strangely my storage room, did not have a bulb in the ceiling fixture. Somehow the sitter took it upon herself to find a bulb put it in, and also leave that light on. What was she looking for in my storage room, when I never discussed this area, and it had no relevance to my cats? I acknowledge it was partly my fault for incorrectly booking, but I remain flabbergasted that after meeting with her and discussing my care instructions for her visits (and I used this word) that she did not have the accumen to identify this mistake.I have used Rover with a handful of sitters, over the last two years, and I have never faced these issues. To add insult to injury, my cats litter box was not cleaned AT ALL. By the time I figured out what had happened, asked her to leave and made it back home they were pooping on the floor next to the box. I arrived 24 hours after I asked the sitter to leave, I know from experience there was no way that amount of waste collected over that short a time period. More than anything I am upset that after spending so much more time than I intended her to be there for, she didn’t even clean the box. I’m grateful my cats were fed and that’s about it. You can tell Jessica genuinely loves pets, but perhaps needs training on communication and professionalism.

Jessica kindly accepted a last-minute booking after another sitter cancelled just three days before our departure, and I truly appreciated her flexibility and responsiveness in arranging a meet and greet before we left. She also left a thoughtful handwritten card, which was a kind gesture I was grateful for. Unfortunately, several serious concerns during and after her stay overshadowed the initial positive experience. The most significant issue was discovering that Jessica allowed her friend into my home without my knowledge or permission. Based on doorbell camera footage, it appears this person was also given my door code and may have been in the house alone at times. This was never communicated or approved, and it felt like a major breach of trust and respect. During our meet and greet, Jessica assured me she would remain at my home for the full duration of the booking. I told her my dogs would be fine if she needed to step out briefly, but I did not expect her to be away as often as she was. She was not even present to feed them during what I would consider reasonable mealtime windows. Additionally, her messages to me conflicted with what was shown on our security cameras, which raised further concerns about trust. When I returned home, my pets were visibly distressed. One of my dogs, who is normally friendly and confident, cowered in fear when I entered through the door used by Jessica and her friend, something she has never done before. My other dog was unusually agitated and unwell, more so than after any previous kennel stay. Our pets water bowl was empty upon our return as well, which was troubling as I don’t know how long it had been that way. I also found a vape device left behind, and there was a strong smell of cigarette smoke throughout the house. Smoking or vaping inside our home felt inconsiderate and unprofessional, especially as we have a smoke free home. Additionally, several personal items had been moved from inside cabinets and closets, which came across as unnecessarily invasive. While I can appreciate her intention behind making minor home improvements, one attempt caused surface damage to our kitchen table and ruined a brand new towel. I had hired Jessica to care for my pets, and I would have preferred her time be spent walking or playing with them, as discussed. The evening she left, Jessica submitted an additional payment request for a holiday rate that, according to Rover support, was not applicable. If she believed there was an error in the original booking rate, a direct conversation would have been more appropriate and better received than submitting a request for additional payment without prior discussion. When I inquired about the damage to the table, her response was aggressive and insulting. She then blocked me from further communication, preventing any opportunity for resolution or for addressing my concerns with her privately in a constructive manner. While I appreciated her initial help with the last-minute booking and the thoughtful card, the overall lack of communication, disregard for boundaries, and substandard care left me feeling disappointed and uneasy. I’m sharing my experience at a Rover’s customer service agents request.

Jessica was amazing. We were gone 4 weeks. Not only did she spoil our dog, Mya, but did some amazing house maintenance. Above and beyond on all aspects. Will definitely be booking with her again.

Jessica was great with our dogs, she took care of them, took them out for walks, fed them and loved them. She also helped us shoveling, took out the garbage and recycling and she even detailed our Dyson! I would've loved to receive more pictures of our dogs, but she had trouble with her phone and I understand. Thanks again, Jessica!
