Safety, trust & environment

My Dachshunds are family and I treat your dog as I would mine. Your small dog will get plenty of one-on-one attention and get to lay around in our fenced back yard if they want (in the summer of course) while being supervised. They are allowed on the couch to watch Netflix with me and will sleep with me in my bed (unless you have other rules). I have plenty of patience and have never met a Dachshund I haven't won over.

Information Jessica R. would like to know about your pet

I only sit small dogs under 20 lbs in my house. Please let me know if your dog is a puppy, not spayed/neutered, or a senior with special needs. I live a little east of Seattle but watch dogs from the Seattle/Bellevue metropolitan area too. I will pick up/drop off your dog for an additional fee of $60 (total). Meet and greets are typically available upon request but I am very confident there won't be any issues with my dogs and, if needed, I have the knowledge and skills to affectively manage interactions. I can send you a video tour of my home before your dog's stay if you want.

A typical day

A typical day: 630 am Wake up, potty break, play/rest, breakfast, potty break. sleep while I work; 12 pm potty break, play/enrichment/training (if selected), nap while I work; 330 pm potty break, walk/enrichment/play, nap; 5 pm dinner, active interaction/play/enrichment; 730 pm quiet couch time and snuggles; 10 pm bed time. Your dog's sleeping arrangement - Your pooch will sleep like they do at your house if possible (sorry, you cannot bring your couch over. Ha, ha). If your dog sleeps in a crate or on a dog bed, please bring those over. If your dog normally sleeps in your bed they will be able to also sleep in our bed too (ours do). Time I'll spend with your dog - I work from home and, in most cases, am not gone from the house for more than 4 hours at a time. I lead an adventurous life with my Dachshunds so, if my time and schedule allows, sometimes I will take your pup(s) to the park, camping, or on a road trip (with permission).

Pet care experience

CURRENTLY ONLY ACCEPTING 5+ DAY STAYS FOR NEW CLIENTS. Highlights: - I only watch 1-3 dogs at a time so I can focus on your pet - You'll receive a daily photo/video and update - Nearly 24/7 supervision (only occasionally out of the house for no more than 4 hours) - Minimum 20 min play/enrichment games/walk/massage (special needs) per day - Your Dachshund can sleep in my bed for comfort - All furniture is low-height or has ramps - Socialization with other Dachshunds (mine) during stay - Raw fed friendly - If desired, I can take your dog hiking or camping - Training add-on(s) available (select number of grooming add-ons for each task/session) - Call to verbally complete a very nerdy and detailed intake form before your dog's first stay (in-person meet and greet may also be available upon request) Pick up and drop off available for an additional fee (select this at the time of booking) My name is Jessica and I have over 20 years of experience with Dachshunds, including those with IVDD (back issues) and other health issues. Besides owning two of my own, I run a Dachshund club in Seattle (Adventureweiner Club), have been researching and blogging about them for over 12 years (YouDidWhatWithYourWiener) I guess you could say I'm nutty about Dachshunds. Please note: - I only accept small dogs that are 0-20 lbs and only watch a maximum of 3 guest dogs at a time. - If you want pick up/drop off in the Seattle/Tacoma area, you must add that service. Pickup outside of that area is possible with an additional fee. About my yard: I have a fully-fenced back yard. The surrounding properties are residential back yards of neighbors so people passing by will not bother them. The area is approximately 200 square feet and the surface is grass. My experience administering medication: I am certified in pet first aid and CPR. I can administer oral or topical medication if instructed. If your dog has special medical needs and additional fee may be charged. We live an adventurous lifestyle: I hike, camp, and travel with my two Dachshund regularly. While I adjust our routine to accommodate your dog's needs (for example, if they are special needs we stay home) I am happy to provide these experiences for your dog too. Just ask!

Jessica is an exceptional dog sitter! She is reliable, trustworthy, and an excellent communicator. Her deep knowledge of dachshunds puts my mind at ease whenever she is caring for our dog. Jessica goes above and beyond by providing regular updates, taking the dogs on walks, and showering them with love and attention. Our dog, Ruby, absolutely adores her! I wholeheartedly recommend Jessica to any dachshund owner in need of a pet sitter. Thank you, Jessica, for treating Ruby like one of your own.

Jessica was fantastic! She takes the time to ask a lot of questions to be sure she understands your dog and its' needs and behaviors. She has dachshunds of her own, which is great because she truly understands the breed and is patient with their ween-isms. She's communicative and thoughtful, sent us pictures and videos so we wouldn't miss him too much, and gave us a kind and helpful download on his stay when we picked him up. Our pup had so much fun playing and hiking on his own little vacation! My only complaint is that now our dog is depressed, because he'd rather be hanging out at Jessica's playing with her dogs than here at home with his boring parents. :)
