About Jessica M.
Communication
Skills
Safety, trust & environment
I have a fenced in yard and an XL wire kennel in a calm area your furry friend is welcome to use. My dog, Lady, is very sweet and gets along really well with other dogs (even her grumpy old cousin). She loves playing with others, but I can keep her separated as needed. My cat, Mister, he is okay with other dogs coming over and just hangs out in his own space until he can trust the new doggo. I will treat your pet with the love and care I give to mine. I will follow any rules, commands, and training practices that you use with your pet. I use force-free, reward-based training to build clear communication, trust, and reliable everyday behavior. I have experience with gentle leaders, no-pull harnesses, and structured collar systems when appropriate for safety and handling. I can help with: * Loose-leash walking & pulling * Leash reactivity / frustration * Basic obedience (sit, down, stay, recall) * Recall in distracting environments * Impulse control & leash manners My approach is tailored to each dog’s temperament and focuses on real-world success and consistency between sessions. I also make sure to review each pet’s profile so owners don’t have to repeat information. For severe aggression or complex behavioral cases, I’ll communicate honestly if a certified behaviorist may be a better fit.

Information Jessica M. would like to know about your pet
I always take the time to read your pet’s Rover profile before our visit, so you don’t need to repeat information you’ve already provided. If everything is covered in their profile, perfect! I’ll simply review it ahead of time and come prepared. Before our first visit, I’d love to know anything that isn’t already included or any recent updates, such as changes to routines, medications, behavior, or special instructions. Some helpful things to know include: * Any medical conditions, medications, or allergies. * Training cues and commands they know. * Leash manners and whether they’re reactive to people, dogs, bikes, or wildlife. * Any fears or anxieties (thunder, fireworks, being left alone, etc.). * Favorite toys, treats, and activities. * Any updates to feeding schedules or daily routines. * Emergency contact and veterinarian information, if it isn’t already listed. The more I know, the better I can provide safe, personalized care while keeping your pet’s routine as consistent as possible. My goal is for both you and your pet to feel comfortable, confident, and well cared for from the very first visit.
A typical day
Every pet has their own personality, so I love tailoring activities to what they enjoy most! For energetic dogs, I’m happy to go on neighborhood walks, hiking adventures (with your permission), play fetch, tug, or work on basic training and mental enrichment using positive reinforcement. I enjoy reinforcing commands like sit, stay, loose-leash walking, and polite greetings during our time together. For puppies, I focus on building confidence, reinforcing good habits, and providing plenty of play and enrichment. For senior pets or those with lower energy, I’m just as happy to take slower walks, offer gentle play, lots of affection, and keep them comfortable while sticking to their normal routine. Cats deserve fun too! Whether it’s interactive toys, wand play, laser pointer games, or simply spending quiet time together, I’ll make sure they receive attention, enrichment, and plenty of love. No matter the activity, my priority is always your pet’s safety, happiness, and making sure they return home tired, content, and well cared for.

Animal Lover & Science Teacher
Pet care experience
What sets me apart is my combination of lifelong hands-on experience and professional knowledge of animal care. I’ve had dogs for most of my life and have always shared my home with cats. Growing up, my family bred our dog, and I helped raise and potty train the puppies before they went to their forever homes. That experience taught me the importance of patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement from an early age. Today, I’m a high school Animal Science teacher, where I teach students about animal health, behavior, welfare, and responsible care. I enjoy working with dogs of all ages, especially reinforcing good manners and basic training. Friends and family often ask me for help with training their dogs, and I love helping build confidence through positive reinforcement. I’m also experienced administering medications and following detailed care instructions, so I’m comfortable caring for pets with special medical or daily care needs. Whether your pet is an energetic puppy, an adult dog who loves adventure, a senior who prefers a slower pace, or a cat who enjoys a calm companion, I’ll provide reliable, attentive, and compassionate care tailored to their individual needs. My goal is for every pet to feel safe, loved, and comfortable while giving you peace of mind through regular updates and photos.
