Home away from home care for pups!
I’ve taken care of dogs since I was ten years old, my own and others. My husband (Josh) and I have boarded friends and family members’ pets in our own home when they travel. We’ve also done pet sitting at their house as needed. We’ve now done Rover pretty successfully for a few years. My favorite part is seeing how happy dogs are when their owners pick them up. Plus it’s fun to get to play with new pups! My big kids (12, 13, and 15) do virtual home school and they love dogs too - they kinda have to in our home! They’re a big help with dog walking or playing with them. The 4 year old is becoming an experienced pet owner but she’s a little less helpful. (:

Schedule
I work evenings and my husband works from home so between the two of us, we are usually available to help out any time. We know how important pets are so we only agree to drop ins or boardings that we know we can manage.

Safety, trust & environment
We have a fenced yard and doggie door so our dogs have the run of the house. Some are crated overnight. We don’t walk them on any schedule but there’s a park nearby that we walk to sometimes and our backyard is big so they generally get enough exercise. When we watch other peoples dogs we treat them as our own but follow whatever rules (crates, feeding schedules, etc) they have in place to keep it as familiar for them as we can.

A typical day
Our house is basically a dog park so other dogs usually get their fill of playing with other dogs here. We all love dogs so human interaction is never a problem either. We take walks around the neighborhood or to the local park too.

- We like to meet dogs and owners ahead of time to let us know everything important for each visit. If we’ll be boarding them, we like them to come by our house ahead of time and make sure dogs get along. It’s important to know feeding schedule and crate needs to keep things as close to like their home as possible and obviously, if there’s any medicines or extra things required to keep them happy and healthy.
