I incorporate pet care into my daily life and work schedule. I am a grad student and freelance graphic designer, which means I have a lot of freedom and flexibility to work around your pet’s schedule. During a stay, I may need to periodically leave the house to go to client meetings/class, but spend the majority of the day working remotely at home. Above all, I ensure your pets are getting the best care and attention they deserve while in my care.

When I lived with a roommate who has two huskies, we made sure they got plenty of exercise, affection and playtime (without it huskies are a handful!) I believe a morning and evening walk along with adequate playtime and affection during the day is key to your pup’s wellbeing and peace of mind. Of course, if you have a pre-determined schedule for your pets, I will try to align myself with those routines to the best of my ability.

Information Jessica H. would like to know about your pet
How do they react with other dogs and people? Do they struggle with separation anxiety? How long do you typically leave them by themselves for? How much daily activity are they used to? Do your pups tend to bark a lot at passing noise or people walking by (partner + roommate are musicians and often recording so that can be tricky)?
A typical day
I believe in enriching dog’s lives through activity outside of the house like walks, hikes, or to the park. I believe it’s good for dog’s socialization and development. Of course, this will need to align with your level of comfort and pet’s individual needs as well.

Pet care experience
Attentive, loving, professional care for your pet! Thank you for supporting a local pet professional! I love what I do and take pride in providing the best care for you and your furry family. It’s a joy to see that appreciation reflected in my clients. Since Rover increased fees for sitters to 25%, I won’t be able to reduce my rates anymore on the app! Thank you for understanding. A bit more about me: My name is Jess; I’m 33 years old and have a deep love for animals. I started doing Rover in 2017 with my sister Lindsay in Portland, OR and had wonderful experiences with many different clients and their pets. Since moving to LA, I’ve continued pet care here on my own since 2021. I grew up with a German Shepherd named Maiya and two Golden Retrievers, Annie and Kodi. I have experience with small and big dogs alike (including puppies), as well as cats, guinea pigs, and ferrets. I’ve volunteered with the Northeast Animal Shelter, which included assist with daily feeding, walks, and socialization. I have basic experience with lead training and socialization for dogs and puppies. A few things I’d like to emphasize about myself; firstly, I appreciate the level of trust that you are extending to me as a pet care professional and mirror it in my actions as a responsible caregiver; I understand that a pet is a part of your family and do my best to treat them as my own. I adore any and all canines, so that comes naturally for me as well! Secondly, I know that traveling can be stressful and want to make it easier on you. I communicate as much as desired so you can be rest assured that your beloved pet is in safe hands. For house sits, I’m also happy to do any basic home needs while you’re away, such as bringing in the mail or taking out the trash. For boarding, your pups will stay with us in our condo (two flights of stairs) with my husband and our roommate who both love dogs. While they’re around most of the time (which is nice if I have to step out for a minute) I am the primary care giver for your animals and will be attentive and on top of their needs. Rest assured, they’re in good hands! Thank you for taking the time to read through my profile. I look forward to meeting you and your pup!
Reviews

This was the second time my pups stayed at Jessica’s. She is so kind and truly enjoys taking care of them!

She took great care of Pip, walked him quite a bit, and gave me advice to help with his leash pulling.

Jess was great! She has such a calm presence and I am sure dogs can sense it! She took great care of my senior dogs and sent me photos throughout the day!

Jessica was amazing with our pup, Oscar! From the start, she was warm, communicative, and clearly has a genuine love for dogs. She kept us updated with timely check-ins and photos, which gave us total peace of mind. Not only was she super responsible, but she went above and beyond — even taking Oscar out to brunch with her! You can tell she treats the dogs she watches like family. We’re so grateful for her care and would 100% recommend her to anyone looking for a loving and trustworthy sitter.
