Playmates and Love!

Pet care experience

We live in a spacious modular home with a backyard and enough space for an animal of any size to romp around during their stay. The house itself has an open concept, so your pet will always be visible. If your pet needs a more quiet atmosphere, we can also arrange for that. Or if your pet has a special bed, we can make room for him/her wherever you want. We are also close to walking trails and the backyard is fully fenced with lots of balls for playing. If you are okay with it, we can also take your pet to the dog park which is only a couple miles from our house (San Rafael). About this sitter: My name is Jessica, I am 33 years old and I absolutely love animals. I have worked in special education for 14 years and recently had a career change! I now work as management in a caregiving company, still helping people. I tend to be more of that person who stays inside, but that's only because I love crafting and creating art! I do love to walk around the Marina and we have a couple of awesome spots up in the hills that we take our regular dog-sitting dogs running. I am very trustworthy, reliable and am excellent at following through with any special instructions I may be given. As of right now, I am only available for in your home sitting, and can also house them at my house. We have a 7 year old bearded collie so we have playmates! I have a special place in my heart for all kinds of pets and have 15 years of experience house/pet sitting. I have pet sat for 3 large dogs (1 on daily medication and 1 who is a 'runner'), rabbits, and various reptiles. I myself have a loving and adorable trio of cats. Why I love dog sitting I have always loved dogs. I grew up with a fawn-colored pug named Pugsley and he was honestly one of the first loves of my life. He was a great dog and lived to be 17 years old! I was the one who took care of him in the last couple of years of his life and he meant a lot to me. I have been considering getting another dog but I understand a pet to be a lifetime commitment and I haven't quite found the right fit for me. I recently adopted a kitten --now cat!-- about a year ago instead as I have been moving around a bit but now that my boyfriend and I have settled down together, he got his own pup that we both love! I have also been house-sitting on a regular basis for almost 4 years now. They have 3 large dogs all of which are not your average pooch. One has a history of being temperamental around other humans and animals; one has a digestive problem and requires medicine to be mixed with his food daily; and the last one is what we call a 'runner' she likes to escape the house and run away unless taken for long runs nightly. With these three, I have gained a lot of experience with more of the troublesome pet and even though they can get into troubles, I love them all as my own. Meet my pets Our house includes a trio of cats who are comfortable around dogs of all sizes. We also have an extremely gentle and sweet bearded collie who is about 7 years old. My experience administering medication I am fine with giving any oral or topical medication. I would prefer to not have to give any shots or rectal medications.

Jessica did great with our fur babies. After some terrible experiences with cat and dog boarding places in the Reno/Sparks area, we decided to try Rover and Jessica was a great fit taking care of our animals for the weekend. She was great about dropping in small updates to us throughout the weekend and kept the place very tidy for when we came home. Highly recommended!

About my yard We have a wrap around yard that is split into three different sides (Kind of like a U shape) the main part of our yard has a concrete path and dirt area. That is also the area we encourage the dogs to play in. That same side has a covered patio that is perfect for inclement weather if your dog likes to be outside. The rest of the yard is mainly dirt with a gardening ledge and some room to run around a bit. When house sitting, I believe in treating your home just as carefully as your pets!

Information Jessica F. would like to know about your pet

I don't have any breed preferences, I do see animals as distinct individuals, no matter their breed. I would love to know if your dog has any special needs beforehand and what his/her favorite activity is!

A typical day

Here's where we'll take our walks We have some walking trails in our neighborhood and we also live close to the hills and San Rafael. But if your pet has a preference we will most certainly accommodate them! Your dog's sleeping arrangement Your dog can either sleep in the room with me, or out in our open living room area. It ultimately depends on the dog and what he (and you!) are comfortable with. Time I'll spend with your dog Between my roommate and I, we will be spending most of the day with your pet. We have pretty opposite schedules so someone is usually home and if not, it isn't for more than a couple hours. Time I'll spend with your dog I plan on spending at least 1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon/evening. Keep in mind, this is the bare minimum and during this time it would be active play/walking/running. I would be with your pet most of the day and all night for the time were it isn't as active. Dogs need their rest too! Extra house-sitting services Well, considering that most of my experience dog sitting includes house sitting, I feel completely comfortable with taking care of any other aspects of your home. Although mowing the grass is still something I am figuring out! I grew up in a town home with no grass to take care of.
