Full-time Vet Assistant & Pet Lover

Pet care experience

Growing up in a family of animal lovers means I've had the pleasure of owning and caring for just about anything with fur, feathers, fins and scales. I've also had the unique opportunity of working closely with large animals while living on a working farm in Brazil which taught me the importance of hard work, dedication, and a unique perspective on life. Now I'm at my dream profession and work full-time as a Veterinary Assistant, and am also a full time student at an online college studying to become a Certified Veterinary Technician. My position at the clinic has given me the unique opportunity of not only honing my skills of medication administration (both orally and injectables), but also working with senior pets, disabled pets and young animals alike. I've also had the chance to work with anxious and timid dogs and have extensive training on recognizing their boundaries and working within their comfort zone. Working with animals has always been a lifelong passion and all of my goals revolve around growing my skills, knowledge and opportunity to work will all of these amazing creatures.

Jessica did an amazing job watching our pup, Ruger. She was communicative and punctual with her responses and coming to our house to meet. Jessica gave us multiple updates throughout the day without being prompted and really went above and beyond while staying at our house with Ruger. We're so glad we found her and won't hesitate to use her in the future!

What a phenomenal person and Walker took great care of my pup and was super communicative. Sent a bunch of photos and went above and beyond out of 10 would definitely recommend every time if I could give them more stars, I would

Jessica does a fabulous job with my Vizsla. Given that she works at a Veterinarians Office and is going to school for Vet Technology - we felt our senior dog was in the rights hands! And growing up on a farm, has had animal care from a young age. So I definitely recommend Jess!

Jessica is fantastic! I have two cats Buttercup and Reese whom jess went from watching part time to full time due to private health stuff. Jess went above and beyond with both animals lives! Buttercup required a specific, fine tuned, diet due to his weight, which she always abided by. Reese who struggles to adapt to new people ended up loving her very quickly! Jess always left my home in impeccable condition with litter boxes clean and floors swept to perfection! At one point Jessica believed my Buttercup was having a health emergency due to his posture and noises being made but her communication was perfect! She was transparent and easy to reach that day and included video of the animal so I knew what we were dealing with. She had taken it upon herself to check the availability with my local vet and when she was going to take Buttercup to the emergency room we both realized he was just hungry ( he would do the craziest things for attention / food )!! Overall I could not be happier with Jess as a long time neighbor and small business owner I believe she is one of the best sitters in the North-shore area!

I'm a guest at your home, and being given the fantastic opportunity of working with your babies - and I won't forget it! I'll keep routines the same so your pet never feels thrown off by having a stranger in their home while giving them the space they need until they warm up to me. I'll always wanna do a quick meet and greet to show your pet that I'm someone who can be trusted as your pet's comfort is extremely important to me.

Information Jessica C. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know how to make your dog comfortable! Working at a vet's office means I have plenty of experience working with nervous animals (as much as we love them, we don't take it personally when some of our patients don't feel the same, haha) and I've quickly built up a skill set of how to go slow and stay within their comfort levels. I will never try to force myself upon a dog, and know the signs of when they're starting to get too stressed out. If you have any training going on as well, I will always keep that in mind and work towards integrating that in my care (loose-leash walking, no jumping on furniture and the like). I can also keep up with any small training sessions that you've been working hard to maintain. Other important things to note would of course be food/bathroom schedules, medication dosage and timing, and any other health related information like sensitivities and allergies. If your pet is reactive to certain things, that would also be helpful information to have.

A typical day

Whatever your dogs enjoy! If your dog enjoys plenty of long walks around a local trail park, hiking in the woods, or simply tossing a ball in the backyard, I'm all for it! For dogs that can't get out physically or have exercise restraints, we can always play some at-home games like puzzle toys, guessing which hand I'm hiding a treat in, or other scent-related activities. Lots of snuggles, of course, go without say!

I do currently work full time Tues-Thurs, usually 8AM-8PM. That being said I get my schedule a month in advance so I can always plan around any days I am scheduled. During my off days I'm usually at home either caring for my own pets or doing schoolwork. I'm always willing to do overnights and can usually just plan my commute to or from work from your house ahead of time if close enough.
