A typical day
When I’m pet sitting for dogs, I love keeping them happy and engaged with fun activities. For active dogs, I’ll tailor walks or hikes based on their energy level, whether it’s a leisurely stroll for a senior pup or an adventurous trek for an energetic one. Classic games like fetch or tug-of-war are always a hit and help burn off energy. I also enjoy setting up simple agility courses indoors or outdoors using household items or engaging their noses with scent games by hiding treats or toys for them to find. If the owner approves, I might take them to the dog park for some socialization. Of course, I make sure to include plenty of cuddles and downtime for dogs who just want to relax and enjoy some affection. When it comes to cats, I focus on activities that tap into their natural curiosity and playful instincts. I’ll use interactive toys like feather wands, laser pointers, or balls to get them moving and excited. I also like playing hide-and-seek with their favorite toys or setting up cardboard boxes and tunnels for them to explore. If they enjoy watching the world go by, I’ll arrange a cozy spot near a window for some birdwatching. Adding catnip to their playtime can also be a fun treat. For cats who are comfortable with grooming, I’ll brush their coat, which not only keeps them looking great but also helps us bond. My goal is always to tailor activities to each pet’s preferences and energy level to make sure they’re safe, happy, and entertained while their owner is away.
