Safety, trust & environment

Since it would be at your place, I'm happy to learn your routine to keep your fur-baby comfortable. Walks, adventures, crating, playing in your fenced yard... Whatever your preference. I don't judge- what works for you all works for me!

Information Jessica A. would like to know about your pet

I'd appreciate knowing what special needs your pet may have, including (but not limited to) food allergies, likes & fears, quirks, current routine, and specific training phrases/techniques you use with them.

A typical day

I would take time to get to know your pet first and build trust with them by following their lead through their body language hints. Animals are incredibly expressive! If you have a set structure of how you would like things to go, I'm happy to follow it, but otherwise, we would likely go for walks (I'm mindful of the heat/weather), take time to play your pets favorite games, and potentially get some solid snuggles in. If they need some care such as nail trims, brushing, baths, or if your yard needs a poop-scoop session or the litterbox needs scooped, just let me know and we will work that out!

Just Pretending to be Human 🐾

Pet care experience

Welcome! The headline is true- I am mostly just a strange creature pretending to be human, which I've found animals tend to appreciate. A bit about me as a human working with animals: In the past, I have worked at the Humane Society in Nevada and have worked at two different veterinary offices. I am trained in animal restraint, medication administration, basic first aid skills, and have recently begun working on CPR training. I am equipped to handle all ages and all manners, though I'll admit that I do have a soft spot for senior dogs (I'm a big softie for all animals, so take that as you will). I have dog sat and walked countless times independently for years. I currently have a 15lb mixed-breed dog named Timber, who doesn't need to join on my adventures if you or your pet aren't comfortable with it. I'm currently not equipped to care for your critter in my home, but hopefully that will change in the near future! Please consider me when looking for someone to take care of your four-legged children (well ... however many legs your pets have, I won't judge).

Jessica was meant to work with dogs. I joined her on a three-month visit to Costa Rica where dogs aren't as cared for, and watched as she found ways to love each one that crossed her path. There was one point at which a very weathered/older dog chose to stay on one of the properties we were renting. He had fleas, ticks, and bad mange. Jess fed him regularly, washed him, and even petted him despite the medical problems. If I owned a dog she'd be the first person I'd call if it were experiencing health problems, and the first person I'd ever let care for it.
