I grew up around animals since birth, but really took charge of pet care in high school and once I moved out and got pets of my own. I've helped care for senior dogs as they were nearing death, applied an ointment to my cat's eye when the vet thought she had something severely wrong with her (just allergies!), and administers shots and oral medication to my late cat. I'm not entirely comfortable with shots, but with guidance for the first time it typically isn't an issue!
