I won’t use force against an animal. This includes e-collars, prong collars, halti-leads and slip-leads. I also won’t reprimand an animal for ‘bad behaviour’. I believe all behaviour is communication and we work with animals as we would with people. I always ask for key info beforehand - where your pet sleeps, where they like to walk, if they can be off lead, any reactivity or stress issues. I'll always follow owner's instructions and all of my interactions with pets are consent based/kindness focussed.
Information Jess G. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your dog is reactive and their triggers, if they have any mobility issues and their medication. Talk me through your pet's daily routine.
A typical day
I've got a ton of enrichment games and toys depending on what your pet enjoys. I focus on the trifecta of calm - licking, chewing, sniffing and incorporate these in to games. As well as walks we can also practice any training you're focussing on.

Pet care experience
I grew up with dogs and have had pet dogs all my adult life. But it was fostering a disabled, traumatised street dog which really taught me about consent-based dog care. We went on to adopt him and over the past 6 years I've learnt about the importance of patience, enrichment and choice for a dog's mental health. Our dog used to be reactive to just about everything but through working with him, understanding his body language and always keeping him below threshold and away from his triggers he's transformed in to a lovely, happy, calm pet dog. I now regularly take care of a friends' reactive dog who she's struggled to leave with anyone else, so that she can go on holiday. I have a DBS certificate and Public Liability Insurance. 🏠 If you’re looking for someone to sit with your dog for a few hours during the day due to separation anxiety, I have a lower rate for this. Get in touch for details.

Reviews

Jess was really lovely with our rescue greyhound that has seperation anxiety. She popped to meet him before the first session, took the time to understand our needs and even played him music and read to him! She is flexible with timings and responsive to messages and updates and is clearly expereinced with lots of different dogs. He loved her and we are all looking forward to her next visit!

Jess is very confident with Ruby as Ruby has seperation anxiety an this can often disrupt Ruby day. So Ruby needs stimulation she loves her treats an walks. Ruby 14 now so walks not as long as they used to be. Thanks Jess

I can't recommend Jess enough especially if your dog is reactive or anxious. Jess has a lot of empathy and very good understanding of dogs behaviour. She was really patient with my rescue dog and provided regular updates after each visit.

We cannot recommend Jess enough. Milo has had to cope with a lot in his start to life which has made him an anxious boy around people. This left us wondering if we’d ever be able to leave Milo/build trust for him with anyone else. From the day we met Jess we felt safe and reassured in our ability to build Milo’s confidence again and her ability to build a bond with him. Last Sunday we had a family event and had to take the leap of finally leaving Milo, understandbly we were both worried about how he’d feel and react. As always an entrance can be quite dramatic with Milo😂but even still Jess reassured us both and within 5 minutes of us going Milo was calm enough to play. Jess respected his boundaries, stuck to his routine and did so much enrichment with Milo. We could finally relax knowing he was safe and happy to see he’s finally starting to trust people. For anyone with an anxious or fear reactive dog please reach out to Jess, your baby will be so safe and looked after!!!
