Safety, trust & environment

I approach every animal and client uniquely. When pet sitting, some animals want all the snuggles and play they can possibly get -- and I'm happy to comply! But other pets may be more aloof, or scared. I go very slowly and calm with those guys. I let them set the pace of our interactions. If your cat wants to hide in the closet the whole time I'm there -- TOTALLY fine! I'm just going to go about my business (feeding, cleaning, etc.) and calmly talk to them about how we'll be best friends eventually, and assure them that you're coming back and that you miss them very much! For dog walking, I go at their pace, as well. Some like to fall into a rhythm and really WALK. Others prefer to sniff and leisurely explore. I let them set the pace, and do whatever will be most fulfilling. (I draw the line at running though! I am NOT a runner! 🤣)

Information Jes P. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your animal has any special needs that I should be aware of, whether medical or behavioral. Common medical things to consider: food allergies, old injuries, medications, etc. Common behavior things to consider: leash pulling, dog reactive, doesn't like men or kids thunderstorm anxiety, etc.

A typical day

I am happy to do whatever your animal's favorite activity is. If thats catch/fetch in the yard: you got it! If that's lounging around for some belly scratches: will do! I have a lot of "training games" we can play that offer enrichment as well!

23 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE!

Pet care experience

I have been working in the Animal Care industry for over 23 years. I started as a "Kennel Technician" at a local veterinary practice (walking dogs, cleaning kennels, basic bathing and grooming) when I was 17. I am now 40, and went on to become a Veterinary Technician for many years, as well as a Dog Adoption Councelor for a local no-kill rescue, and even a credentialed Professional Dog Trainer for a number of years, too! Through all that, I had pet sat for clients on the side -- but now it's *ALL* that I do! Due to my background, I'm able to approach pet-sitting and dog-walking from both a medical perspective, and a behavioral perspective. So if you have an older animal that needs extra care and medical treatments: I've GOT you! If you have a very shy/nervous/reactive animal that takes some extra warming up: I've ALSO got you! I currently live with my husband and infant son in Leander. [My son sometimes tags along with me to drop-ins, but will always be contained to a car seat carrier, stroller, or worn on me in a baby wrap. (Because of this, I can only accept jobs with animals who are kid-friendly or kid-neutral! I will also not be able to accept new clients without a meet and greet!] Our family has a small zoo in our home! We currently have: ■ 3 dogs ▪︎ two 80 lb. Beaucerons ▪︎ a 30 lb. cattledog/pit mix ■ an ancient Domestic Short-haired Tabby cat ■ 7 hermit crabs in a 40 gallon bioactive tropical terrarium ■ a handful of fish in a 20 gal planted fresh-water black-water aquarium ■ TAMUK rabbits ■ Coturnix Quail So, as you can see, I have experience with small furry pets, birds, and can watch your fish or terrariums, too! (I'm happy to water plants and pick up mail as well!) Please reach out! I would love the opportunity to become your pet's newest friend!

Jes always does an amazing job. Our kitty guy had a little bit of an upset stomach this time. It was very reassuring to know Jes was giving him such attentive care
