Started feeding Molly, my first dog, when I was around 1 y.o. Enjoyed the clear and honest communication. Taken close care of Yorkshire terriers, Labradors, Llaso Apsos, and Golden Retrievers. Taken close care of nearly kittens that grew to 8 pound short-hair little dudes to 10 - 25 pound long-haired girls. Well acquainted with the patience and personalities from stubborn to goofballs and grumpy munchers.

Greet them in a way that they are comfortable. This may involve few minutes before tasks like getting the lease, cleaning/replacing hygienic items, and/or feeding. Especially early on, I may just be sitting near them on the floor.
