During summer break from college, pet care becomes a more central part of my daily routine since I have more free time and flexibility. Each morning, I start the day by feeding my pet and taking them for a walk, which helps both of us get some fresh air and exercise. Throughout the day, I make sure they’re entertained and cared for, whether it’s through playtime, grooming, or just keeping them company. With fewer academic responsibilities, I can also schedule vet visits or training sessions without much hassle. Overall, caring for my pet during summer break feels less like a chore and more like a rewarding part of my day that adds structure and companionship to my time off.

Information Jennifer T. would like to know about your pet
Before watching someone’s pet, it’s important to gather key information to ensure their safety, comfort, and happiness. I always ask about their daily routine, including feeding times, portion sizes, and any special dietary needs. It’s also essential to know their behavior around other animals, people, and new environments, as well as any fears or triggers they might have—like loud noises or separation anxiety. I check if they have any medical conditions, medications, or allergies, and get emergency contact info for both the vet and the owner. Lastly, I ask about their favorite toys, activities, and any house rules they’re used to. Knowing all of this ahead of time helps me provide the best possible care.
A typical day
We’ll go on walks to nearby parks or trails to enjoy the nice weather and get some exercise. I’ll also play interactive games like fetch, tug-of-war, or hide-and-seek with treats to keep them mentally engaged. For indoor fun, I’ll rotate toys and maybe even try simple training games or puzzles to challenge them. If the pet enjoys water, we might have some supervised splash time in a kiddie pool or with a sprinkler. My goal is to keep them entertained, well-exercised, and feeling loved while their owners are away.
