During weekdays, your dog will travel with me on a short 20-minute car journey to the farm, so they’ll need to be comfortable travelling in a car. At the farm, they’ll spend most of the day with me in my cosy, heated office in winter, which stays cool in summer thanks to air conditioning (very spoiled!). While I’m usually with them, there may be short periods when they can’t come along with me outside the office — however, they are very unlikely to be left alone for more than 2 hours maximum at any point in the day. During evenings and if I’m not working on a weekend, dogs stay with me at our family home, where they can relax, enjoy cuddles (if they like them!), and settle into a calm home environment.

At the farm, dogs enjoy lovely daily walks and — with your permission — the opportunity to run free in two fully fenced woodland enclosures with secure deer fencing. These areas are perfect for safe off-lead exercise, sniffing, and exploring new surroundings. At home, your dog will be part of our family life. I live in a peaceful Cotswold village with my husband and my two children. My children are aged 11 and 8 and gentle, dog-loving, and used to being around pets. I understand how important trust is when leaving your dog in someone else’s care, which is why I’m always happy to follow your routines, feeding instructions, and any special requirements your dog may have. I’d love to arrange a meet and greet before any booking, so you can feel completely confident — and so your dog can meet me and decide if I’m the right fit too 🐾

I like to meet both you and your dog before confirming a booking, so we can make sure we’re all a good fit — and most importantly, that your dog is happy and comfortable with me. I usually arrange this at our local village park. Before your dog comes to stay, I’ll also send you a short, informal questionnaire (nothing too formal!) so I can make sure I have all the information I need. Every dog is different, and I want to learn as much as possible about their routine, food, likes, dislikes, walking preferences, and any quirks that make them who they are. For their stay, I ask that you provide all of your dog’s food, bedding, and favourite toys, so they have familiar comforts and feel at home while they’re with me. My aim is to make your dog’s time with me feel like a genuine holiday — so you can relax knowing they’re happy, safe, and well cared for
A typical day
A typical day starts with your dog being let out into our fenced village garden first thing in the morning, followed by some relaxed time at home with me and the children while they get ready for school. Depending on your dog and what you feel is appropriate, they may join me for a short walk to do the school run in the village. We then travel together to the farm (around a 20-minute car journey). On arrival, we’ll enjoy a short walk to stretch our legs before settling into the farm office. During the day, your dog will spend most of their time with me in my cosy office, which is heated in winter and air-conditioned in summer. At lunchtime, we head out for a longer walk around the farm, and — with your permission — your dog can enjoy off-lead time in one of two fully fenced 3-acre woodland enclosures, perfect for safe running, sniffing, and exploring. In the afternoon, they’ll relax back in the office with me. Occasionally I have outdoor jobs to do; if suitable for your dog, they may come along, otherwise they’ll stay safely and comfortably in the office. My workday usually finishes between 4–5pm, after which we head home. Depending on the time of year and the weather, we’ll go for an evening walk either before or after dinner — this might be along local footpaths or a trip to the park, based on what I feel your dog will enjoy most. Evenings are calm and relaxed. Your dog can settle with us in the kitchen or living room — by the TV or the wood burner — and I’m happy to bring their bed into whichever room we’re in if that’s what they’re used to at home. If they prefer some quiet time, they can relax in the kitchen instead. Dogs sleep in the kitchen overnight.

I’ve been around dogs all my life and grew up with them as part of the family. While I don’t have a dog of my own, I regularly spend time caring for dogs belonging to family, friends, and colleagues, and they’ve always been a big part of my everyday life.

We cannot say enough good things about Jennifer! Our dog, Dookie absolutely loves spending time with her. It’s such a relief to go away knowing he isn’t just being watched, but truly cared for. Jennie has looked after our two dogs, Oreo and Merry, many times, and it’s clear that she enjoys caring for them just as much as they enjoy being with her. Jennie really understands that every dog is different — Oreo isn’t always as keen on being outside as Merry, and Jennie is always happy to adapt so each dog is comfortable and happy. Sometimes one will join her while she runs errands around the farm, while the other relaxes in the office if they’d rather stay put._ _The dogs spend time with Jennie in the office and are taken out for walks and fresh air throughout the day, so we know they’re being well cared for. They’re always happily tired when they come home, which tells us they’ve had lots of outdoor time, stimulation, and attention._ _Leaving them with Jennie feels like a little holiday for the dogs as well as for us. They also love Jennie’s two children, so after a fun day at the farm, we know they head home to even more cuddles and attention._
