Shelter-Trained Dog Walker & Sitter
Hi! I’m Jen — a lifelong animal lover with over 4 years of hands-on experience working at an animal shelter, plus many additional months caring for dogs and other animals on a small farm property. If there’s one thing I truly understand, it’s dogs. Especially the shy, anxious, and misunderstood ones. They hold a very special place in my heart! There is no greater feeling than earning the trust of a dog who needs a little extra patience and understanding. At the shelter I worked with every type of dog imaginable, from easygoing family pups to dogs with more complex needs due to past trauma. I was trusted to walk and handle even the more anxious or sensitive dogs, helping them build confidence and learn to trust new people. I’m very comfortable reading dog body language and adjusting my approach so each dog feels safe, respected, and understood. One of the dogs I worked closely with, Donald, needed a trusted handler present while new volunteers learned how to walk him safely, and I helped train others so he could get the exercise and enrichment he deserved. I also helped start enrichment initiatives at the shelter, including treat puzzles, mental stimulation games, and a “dog play buddy” program to give the dogs additional socialization and activity. One of my most special experiences there was helping care for a mama dog who gave birth to a litter of 10 (10!) puppies. I helped care for and socialize those puppies as they grew until they were ready for their forever homes. I also have experience caring for senior animals and understand that older pets often need a little extra patience, gentleness, and attention to their comfort and routine. Beyond dogs, I also have experience caring for cats and bunnies. Over the past few months I’ve helped care for my landlady’s 1yo kitty, and I’m very comfortable providing drop-in care and pet sitting for cats and small animals as well. I offer dog walking, drop-in visits, and pet sitting/boarding and I treat every animal like they’re my own. I pay close attention to each pet’s personality, comfort level, and body language so they feel safe and relaxed while their owner is away. I’m always happy to send updates and photos so you know your pet is happy and well cared for. My goal is simple: every animal I care for should feel safe, so very loved, and understood.

Jennifer is absolutely amazing! From the moment she met my fur babies, it was clear how much she genuinely cares for dogs. She is kind, dependable, loving, and treats them as if they were her own. Knowing they are in Jennifer’s care gives complete peace of mind because she goes above and beyond to make sure they feel safe, happy, and loved. Not only is she incredibly attentive to their needs, but she also keeps us updated and makes every interaction feel personal. My dogs absolutely adore her, and so do I! She's always so enthusiastic and punctual when she lets my dog out for long walks. Jennifer always brings little dog treats to reinforce positive behaviors while walking my dog too!
Jennifer was very prompt and took our golden retriever for a very long walk, which was very well documented though pictures along the way. She was very communicative and responded quickly to my chats and questions throughout the entire process. Highly recommend!
Jen is OUTSTANDING. We have a high anxiety fur baby who is extremely apprehensive around new people, but we needed someone in a pinch for a family emergency and by the grace of God came across Jen. She is personable, responsible, and extremely experienced with high needs animals. Our baby felt comfortable around her immediately, and she was able to handle his high needs with confidence. She is also extremely intelligent when it comes to giving us tips to help us manage some of his behaviors. We will 100% continue to use Jen and recommend her to all our family and friends who need an experienced, capable helper. You can tell she legitimately loves animals also and puts her heart and soul into making them feel comfortable around her. You will not be disappointed!!!

Harmonogram
Pet care is my primary focus, so my daily routine is built around providing consistent, hands-on care. I structure my day to include regular potty breaks, feeding schedules, exercise, enrichment, and downtime, depending on each pet’s needs. I’m home for the majority of the day, which allows me to provide a high level of supervision and attention. Pets are rarely left alone for extended periods, and I’m able to adjust my schedule to support different energy levels, routines, and personalities. Whether a dog needs more activity and engagement or a calm, low-stress environment, I’m able to tailor my day to ensure they feel comfortable, safe, and well cared for.

I care for every pet based on who they are — not just a one-size-fits-all routine. I pay close attention to body language, energy levels, and comfort cues so pets feel safe, respected, and genuinely cared for. In my home, dogs stay on a fully fenced 10-acre farm property where they can safely explore, play, and decompress. All outdoor time is supervised, and I’m intentional about creating a balanced environment — active play for dogs who love it, and plenty of quiet downtime for those who don’t. I have a friendly Mini Goldendoodle and a very mellow senior pup in the home, and I take introductions slowly and thoughtfully. I’m always prepared to separate or crate dogs if needed to keep everyone comfortable and safe. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I stick closely to your routines and preferences so your pet experiences as little disruption as possible. I keep things calm, consistent, and predictable, which is especially important for anxious or sensitive animals. I’m very comfortable with a wide range of personalities, including dogs who need a little extra patience or structure, and I pride myself on creating an environment where pets can relax and just be themselves.
