Love exercising/caring for animals!

Pet care experience

Current availability: After relocating back to Oregon, I will start accepting new clients near West Linn in July or August once I get settled in. I received a Covid vaccination in April 2021. I look forward to taking care of your pet. ----- MY EXPERIENCE: I love every kind of dog, whether they are cuddly, shy, or have never-ending energy! I care for lots of cats too and would love to meet your kitties. I'm a full-time dog walker/pet caregiver and I really enjoy getting to know each dog and cat I take care of. I have walked and cared for many (1,500+) dogs, cats, and other animals as well (fish, horses, etc.). Over the past couple of years, I’ve walked hundreds of dogs in San Francisco and East Bay (San Francisco Bay Area). I've cared for many other types of pets in the last couple of years including 100+ cats, as well as fish, chinchilla, horse, and donkey. I've also provided overnight house sitting to over 30 clients. Prior to joining the official dog walking community, I cared for my energetic collie-shepherd dog for 6 years. Growing up, I rode horses and eventually owned and trained my own horse, and I had 3 parakeets and a chameleon. ----- WALK & DROP-IN AVAILABILITY: I provide walks and drop-in appointments within 2 miles of my location between 7 am - 5 pm. If requesting ongoing services, please send me your general location (and nearby landmarks or cross-streets) and the acceptable time range for visits (between 10-11? 10-1? 2-4?). This is great so that I can drop by at a time that is most appropriate to each day for heat and traffic reasons. Please message me to see if I can provide walks or drop-ins in your area at your desired time! ----- HOUSE SITTING INFO: Currently I am not providing house sitting, but please let me know if you need services because I may be able to offer boarding based on your pet. *My standard care includes ½ hour breakfast care, ½ hour lunch break, ½ hour dinner care, bedtime potty break, giving medication or treats, and staying overnight with your dog. I often hang out with them more than that when possible. I do house sitting tasks that you may need like bring in mail, take garbage to curb, water plants, turn on lights, etc., and also send a daily summary with photos before bed so you can see how your animals are doing. *I can provide potty breaks every 4 hours (I will often provide them more frequently than that, but dogs must be able to hold it for 4 hours!). Unfortunately this means I USUALLY can't offer house sitting for young puppies, but depending on your location I may be able to (if you live close to my regular walks I may be able to drop by often enough to care for your young puppy). *I usually leave the house each day for up to 6 hours at a time, but strive to stay at your home when I don't have appointments. A typical day is often: Hanging out with your dog until 10 am, away from 10 am – 3 pm, with your dog from 3 - 6 pm, away for a couple hours in the evening, and back with your dog for bedtime and overnight. My schedule varies every day. *Due to physical requirements, I’m only able to care for dogs that do not jump on me/scratch/pull hard. *Usually check-in time is ~3 pm and check-out time is ~10 am. *Sadly I can’t sleep in the same bed with animals (I wish I could, but am just not able to sleep!). I mention this because some dogs are used to the bed life and may not be okay with sleeping off the bed haha! ----- SPECIAL SKILLS: I have many years of experience caring for high-energy, anxious, and special needs dogs. I’m great at caring for dogs that need extra support or caution (giving pills, eye drops, dogs who are noise-sensitive, etc.). I'm also happy to take your dog on runs, long walks, or hikes. For cats, I am an expert at playing long games of laser tag to keep them stimulated! I can’t own cats due to family allergies, so I especially love getting to take care of and play with cats :-)

Book Jennifer. Period. If you have the option book her now. She is hands down the most trustworthy and caring animal sitter I've ever used. She looked after my two cats regularly – I always rebooked her and would move my vacation to make sure that she could book. She took care of them not only as she was supposed to, but as her own. She would always make sure that she played and cuddled with them and took care of them holistically. I can't say enough nice things about her and she is the very best on here. Absolutely amazing.

We found Jennifer for our first time using Rover. She was beyond our expectations in responsibility, communications, and most importantly, getting along well with our dogs. She will be the first person we reach out to when we need house/pet sitting in the future!

I have a fenced yard and live with one dog who loves other dogs (he is a 2-year old, medium, Poodle and Spanish Water Dog mix). The backyard and porch are very relaxing and I like to spend a lot of time out there with the dogs. I have a baby but have gates everywhere in the house and plenty of room for dogs to roam and play.

Information Jennifer M. would like to know about your pet

During a meet-and-greet, I will want to find out what type of interaction the dog likes (cuddling? fetch? solitude?), how energetic the dog is, if they have medications or health issues, and the feeding regimen. I will also want to know their favorite areas to visit for potty and walk breaks because many dogs are particular so I want to make sure I take them to their special areas for potty. For house sitting requests, see section above for details. I do not have breed restrictions and am happy to care for any breed or size of dog or cat! My only restriction is that due to a temporary injury, I'm currently only able to care for dogs that do not jump on me/scratch/pull hard. My focus is 100% safety for all involved!

A typical day

I like to take dogs on walks around the local neighborhood, but especially love visiting any walkable nature areas! I tailor my speed on walks to the dog's interests and energy level, so it’s helpful to know what you’d like me to do on the walks (get them a workout, let them sniff, go slow, etc.). With cats I like to play laser tag or brush them, but if they enjoy solitude I can also just be present for their curiosity! For house sitting requests, see section above for details.

Availability

I am a full-time pet caretaker and able to care for pets during every day of the week and weekend. I have a baby so I need a small amount of flexibility in arrival times, but generally if we work out a time range to arrive there is no issue at all. If boarding at my house, I will generally spend time with your pet from 6-9 am, 10-11 am, 1-3 pm, 5-7 pm, and a nighttime potty break. This is a general schedule and depends on your pet's age and needs.
