Loving, Experienced Dog Care Home
I am a lifelong animal lover with a special affinity for basset hounds. I've had one or more for most of my life. I currently have Coco, born May 2023. Coco is a very friendly, playful, well socialized pup who loves have doggie friends come over. Also check out the Facebook page for the Walk, Woof, and Wag 2019 Halloween fundraiser for Chico Animal Shelter and you will see my previous bassets Piper and Winnie (RIP sweet girls) as part of the grand prize winning 3 Amigos costume contest! I do love my bassets. I also foster for Golden Gate Basset Rescue so there will occasionally be another basset living with me. Working with GGBR has given me lots of experience caring for dogs coming from a variety of, sometimes terrible, backgrounds. I have fostered everything from senior dogs with major health problems to extremely fearful and avoidant dogs. I have an RN degree and a bachelor's in Zoology. I worked in a vet hospital for 3 years during college. I'm very comfortable giving medications. I've been dog sitting and fostering for almost ten years and have a lot of experience with a wide variety of dogs and dog behaviors. I would love to meet your pup!

Ratings and reviews
Jennifer is amazing! Great communication and her home is so welcoming for dogs. Our girls were well cared for and seem to have had a great time.

Jennifer is SUPERB! From our very first meet-and-greet, I knew Jennifer was something special. About a minute into the visit, my male dog, Pierre, promptly lifted his leg and "marked" in her house. I was mortified and thought that would be a deal breaker. Instead, Jennifer remained completely calm, smiled, and explained that some male dogs do this—and thank goodness for belly bands! Her experience, confidence, and good humor immediately put me at ease. My 14½-year-old Savannah and 11-year-old Pierre are definitely spoiled. They're not accustomed to being around other dogs and have only been boarded a couple of times in their lives. I was concerned that a week-long separation might lead to anxiety or gastrointestinal upset, but Jennifer took such wonderful care of them that they settled in beautifully. Every day she sent a photo or short video, which gave me tremendous peace of mind. I loved seeing my fur babies relaxed, happy, and even "playing nicely with others." The opportunity for them to socialize with other dogs turned out to be an unexpected bonus! To top it off, my return flight was delayed, and Jennifer couldn't have been more understanding and accommodating. Jennifer combines knowledge, skill, patience, and genuine compassion in a way that makes her an outstanding pet sitter. I trusted her completely with two dogs who mean the world to me, and she exceeded every expectation. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for exceptional care for their pets, and Savannah, Pierre, and I are already looking forward to their next visit!

Good with communication and sent updates.

Jennifer took great care of our little dog during our 2 week vacation. I highly recommend her!

Highly recommend. I was nervous leaving my baby for the first time but she took such great care of her and fiesta baby made some friends. Definitely will be booking with her again in the future.

Schedule
I do work out of the home full time: 7am-3pm M-F. I always come home at lunch when dog sitting and spend 30-45 minutes with them. Your babies will not always have me around but there will always be other dogs around.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
I live in a clean, comfy home with extra space and a nice, although smaller, 6' high fenced backyard. My backyard also has artificial turf instead of grass. This helps keep everything much cleaner, including the dogs. I have a large doggie wading pool for water loving pups in the hot summers. All pups are welcome on furniture, on my bed (both with access ramps), or any of the many dog beds laying around. But I will do my best to maintain your pup's normal routine and follow whatever the client's wishes are. I'm patient, gentle, and very good at reading dog behavior. I often make my own healthy dog food and dog treats so there is always yummy stuff laying around and I can accomodate special dietary needs. I have a big doggy door to the backyard so there is constant access. If your pup won't use a doggy door I do have alternatives available. When I'm not working, I'm a homebody who loves to be with my dogs. I also love taking dogs for walks and out on excursions. Client permission will always be obtained before any excursions that require car travel. I'd love to meet your fur babies!

A typical day
A variety of walks are available depending on you and your dog's preferences. I love Bidwell Park, Horseshoe Lake, the seed farm in south Chico, and even the Oroville Forebay. Simple walks around my quiet neighborhood are also lovely.
