Pet care experience

Walk, run, or hangout in the sun

I'm 31, majoring in natural science with a focus in general sciences at UAA. I’m an animal lover who simply enjoys being outside! I've had a dog or two in my home since I was born. Rottweilers, labradors, shih tzus, and mastiffs are a few of the breeds I've owned. (I love big dogs.) I'll walk your fur babies while they pick a spot to do their business, then we can hit the trail for some fetch or a hike. Music up and windows down on the way there, haha. Maybe we will go to Campbell Creek and spy on some moose! 👀 On the hot summer days, we’ll take a dip in the water and air dry afterwards. I’m a sucker for a good puppy cuddle. I love a nap after an adventure to wrap up the day. I don't mind large dogs thinking they're lap dogs. In fact, I encourage it. Haha. Their needs are my priority, always. ❣️

Grateful we hired Jen, and absolutely would hire her again. She was communicative, responsive, took a great care of my dogs, my fish, and my house… She followed instructions well, made sure to reach out whenever she did have questions, and took initiative to take care of other things around the house that I didn’t explicitly ask for, but that were simple and appreciated. Things like taking out trash and bringing the mail in. My dogs seemed happy and she sent me photo updates throughout our trip away. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for care.

Jennifer was absolutely wonderful while house sitting and caring for our two kittens. From the start, she was communicative, reliable, and clearly experienced with animals. Our kittens were happy, well cared for, and comfortable the entire time, and it gave us so much peace of mind knowing they were in such good hands. She also left the house clean and in great condition. We would absolutely book her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and attentive sitter.

I am so glad to have found Jennifer. My old dog Diane is not one to easily welcome new people in her life, but Jennifer had a way of making both of us feel at ease - Diane came up to her almost immediately. That put me at ease of leaving Diane in Jennifer's hands. Jennifer had to put up with Diane's quirks, including getting her to eat some and cleaning up a few messes. Her care of Diane is much appreciated. Jennifer is easy to work with and talk to and asks great questions.

Schedule

I work next door to where I live, so my commute is short and sweet. I work MW evenings from 5:00-10:15/10:30. I’m in school MW 10:00-2:15 and T 10:00-5:15. I work in the genetics lab on Fridays 11:00-1:30/2:00. I go to the gym 3x a week. I enjoy staying in and reading or crafting with my downtime (if I’m not studying).

Safety, trust & environment

I have a large, fenced front + backyard with fresh grass (when it isn’t winter 🤣) for naps, fetch, and bathroom breaks. My household is one that allows animals on furniture, so Netflix and chill is on the agenda. I like to take walks regardless of the weather to stay active. Keep the leash and harness handy!

A typical day

I love taking jogs over at Campbell Creek (only during summer months) just as much as I love sitting inside snuggled under a blanket reading. (Always down for book recommendations.) Whether high energy or chill, dog or cat, we will have a fun time.

I’m always willing to work with animals + around their needs/complications. I have plenty of experience with senior animals, administering medicine, + taking it easy. I’m very patient. If your little one is shy, aggressive, anxious - just let me know so I can be sure to put/keep them in situations where they’ll thrive. I’ll provide whatever environment they need. I’m also always willing to work with a clients budget. I know things can easily rack up, (especially in this current economic climate) and sometimes you just need a trusted dog sitter. Please communicate if you have a budget and let’s brainstorm.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
