Run, Fun, and Snuggle with Us
I'm a runner who loves a good running buddy! I've been around herding dogs since I was a kid on my grandparents' dairy farm and in my own family growing up. So when I was ready to rescue, I looked for a border collie who would never say no to a run and would protect all within his borders. Barkley loves a good game of frisbee and ball, and a great overnight companion for him would be a jolly someone who doesn't steal his toy but wants to run around with him or goes for runs with us, rain, snow, or shine. Or chills at home while we're outside! My 10-year old twins love Barkley and all the neighbor pets. I was the mom on the trails of Woodbury with the twins in the Bob stroller and Barkley on a leash getting in our miles and shoeing away the ice cream truck so it didn't wake my napping babies! Now my son plays soccer with Barkley and the neighbor dogs, while my daughter takes them for walks and plays ball and frisbee and gives them hugs and pets. We have two cats for snuggling since Barkley is more interested in playing than pets. I have had cats for forever. My first memories are of me as a toddler pushing my dressed-up cat Grace around in a stroller... my daughter has similar memories!

Jennifer did a great job with our pup. We enjoyed the photos updates. She doesn’t have a fenced yard but she is not anywhere near a main road and had a nice space for him to go out. She also took him for walks often. Our dog was in good spirits when we picked him up. Would highly recommend using her!
Brooks loves going to Jen's house because of the snuggles. She takes him for walks and he loves spending time with her family. Jen is great to work with. She always sends us a photo and gives updates.

Our dog was with Jennifer and her family for just over 4 days. While there she took him on a long walk. She welcomed him into her home and family and helped him adjust to his new surroundings. She responded in a timely manner and was flexible. If you are looking for a place to board your dog, she is great to work with.
Jennifer was a great host and very helpful. We would definately recommend her.

Schedule
I teach yoga and work in health, wellness, and fitness, so I am out of the house for a few hours at a time to teach and work with clients. Summer afternoons I'm pretty consistently working out of the house; during the school year I am teaching. Evenings and weekends, we're at soccer (with pets depending on the location) or hanging out around home.

Safety, trust & environment
I have a walkout basement and deck above with an unfenced grassy backyard. If your dog is easily recalled, it will be fun to play outside together. If best on a leash, we will go for walks in the nearby nature center or around the neighborhood. If your dog is accustomed to being kenneled while its humans are away or has destructive behaviors, please bring your kennel as well as any beloved toys. Barkley won't steal stuffies! (He only understands frisbees and balls.) If your dog has any special needs or medications, let's talk!
Pets
A typical day
We play fetch and frisbee in our backyard and go for walks in the nature park just steps away from our front door or for a run around the neighborhood. There may be a soccer practice or game to go to, as well. On beautiful weather days, I work outside while the pups enjoy the fresh air and we play fetch. If socialization and happy roughhousing is your dog's jam (or a fenced area is needed), we'll head to the dog park to play!
