- In-home care: You're the expert on your pet, and I'll gladly follow any instructions you have re: indoor / outdoor time for cats or dogs, crates, leashes, weird food routines, etc. - Dog walks: As the proud parent of a reactive dog (he's come a long way! but we're still working on it), I tend to default to crossing the street and avoiding contact with other dogs on dog walks. If you have a more social dog, I'll follow your instructions re: any social interactions. Plus: I have pet seat belts and a dog-friendly car if you'd like me to take your doggo(s) on a longer hike outside of your neighborhood.

Pet care experience

My love for dogs and cats (and all animals, really) has been a defining aspect of my personality for my whole life, from finding and rescuing a small cat at a playground in 3rd grade to excitedly exclaiming "oh wow LOOK AT THAT CUTE DOG!" from the passenger seat of a moving vehicle (apologies to the startled drivers). There's an Andrea Gibson poem where they referred to their dog as "my beating heart, with fur and legs," and that feels exactly right - whether my own pets or yours, I will love them as much as they'll allow. I'm here for anything from quick mid-day dog walks to hour-long jaunts on a trail for your dogs to joining your pets at your house while you're away. I have experience with sick and older pets, as well, and am the designated medication-giver in our own home. I've nursed a cat back to health from an animal attack via tube feedings, wound care, and multiple medications, and provided hospice comfort care for our older cat and dog in their final weeks. I've used Rover sitters for our own cats and dogs many times, and am very familiar with the anxiety that can come from leaving your fur-babies in someone else's care. (How many photos from a pet-sitter is too many? The limit does not exist!) I'm often the go-to pet sitter and dog-walker for many of my friends when they've been out of town, and have joined a former partner in being a Rover sitter in the past. I work from home running my own consulting business, so my schedule is pretty open and flexible. While I can't host in my own home - our own dogs are not always great with other doggos - I'm happy to travel just about anywhere in the greater San Diego region. I'm excited to meet and love on your babies! (Or, in the case of grumpy or shy ones, send love from the other side of the room while I refill their food dishes and scoop their litter.)

Jennifer was absolutely phenomenal with our cat, Seaweed, while we were away. 💛 She was thoughtful, proactive, warm, and incredibly reassuring from start to finish. For each visit, she sent detailed updates, adorable photos/videos (😭😍), and little observations about Seaweed’s personality/behavior that made it SO clear she genuinely cared and was paying close attention to her. One of our biggest concerns while traveling is Seaweed’s medication administration (she requires an oral pill twice daily), and Jennifer handled this flawlessly. Not only did she successfully administer her meds as needed, but she also kept us informed on what worked best along the way, making the entire process feel low-stress, thoughtful, and intentional. Having someone we fully trusted while away gave us so much peace of mind. Jennifer went above and beyond, and we would HIGHLY RECOMMEND her to anyone looking for a caring, patient, attentive, and reliable sitter for their pet(s). We’ll absolutely be booking with her again in the future. Thanks again, Jennifer!!! 🙏❤️

Jen is my go-to for my cat. They are wonderful, caring, and go above and beyond! My cat is 14, deaf, and a tad spicy. She doesn't do well with strangers or change. I always stress when leaving her home, even overnight, and especially on longer trips. Jen brings me peace of mind. They send photos, give me daily updates, give my cat space and time to adjust. They follow the very precise care information to the letter. Over the last 5-6 years, they've created a bond with my girl to the point where my cat not only tolerates them but lets them pet her! Even my husband had to work hard to get to that point. All in all, if you're looking for someone consistent, caring, dependable, and a total pet lover, look no further.

We have been lucky enough to have Jen take care of our special needs senior dog, Luna, and our demanding cat, Bug, many times over the years. They were so good about the specific care Luna needed, including a very specific schedue, diet and medication. They spoiled both of our pets as much as we would. Our pets adore Jen and we've always been grateful when they were available because it made leaving town so much less stressful for us.
