I work full time, leaving for work at 7am but I do have a bit of time in the mornings. I also finish at 4pm so I also have time after work during the week. My weekends are quite free so I’d be more than happy to help out then, too! Additionally, I am more than happy to look after your furry friends during the school holidays.

I ensure that the home is pet-proofed and secure, minimising any potential hazards. I follow the owner's instructions regarding feeding, exercise, and medication, maintaining their routine as closely as possible. Information Jemma M. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your dog has any special needs or behaviours that I can accommodate. My preference is for breeds that are friendly and well-socialised.
A typical day
A typical day with your furry friend would involve engaging activities like games, neighbourhood walks, and exciting adventures in a nearby park (where appropriate). We will play games like fetch and tug-of-war, use puzzle toys to keep them mentally stimulated, and even try activities like agility training or nose work. If there is any specific obedience training you would like to incorporate in our day, this can provide mental stimulation. Of course, I will adapt the activities based on your dog's breed, age, and needs.

Pet care experience
I have been caring for pets for 20+ years, including my own dog and looking after neighbours' and friends' dogs. I have experience with various breeds such as Chow Chows, Labradors, Jack Russell Terriers, Border Terriers, Cocker Spaniels, Dachshunds, English Bulldogs, Shih Tzu mixes, and Romanian rescues. I have trained my own puppy and am comfortable administering medication. I can handle multiple pets and have dealt with challenging behaviours, including helping my reactive rescue dog overcome her fears. While I don't have specific experience with special needs pets, my adaptability as a teacher allows me to provide excellent care. I can provide references from previous pet owners I have cared for. I have recently returned to work as a full-time teacher at a school in Girton. Therefore, I will not be at home during the day. However, I am still offering sitting services in the evenings and on weekends. Additionally, if you are comfortable with it, I am happy to have your pet stay at my house during the day. During the school holidays I will be able to stay at yours or have your pet at mine, where I will be at home during the day. During term time, you live somewhere with easy access to Girton, I am happy to house sit then too.

Reviews

Jemma looked after our nervous fox red lab for the weekend in our home extremely well. She was great on communication, very caring and considerate of both the dog and our needs. We came home to a very chilled dog. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone.

Jemma took care of our little Maltipoo for 2 weeks during the Christmas and new year break and he had a fantastic time with her. Distance and time zones did not matter between us as Jemma communicated regularly with us with photos and videos. This was the first time we had left him for this long with a carer and were naturally anxious about how the puppy would be in a new place but Jemma made it all easy for us. She made him feel at home from the beginning and we were really happy to see him being pampered during the Christmas break. Thank you Jemma for everything and making the little guy feel loved and at home.

Jemma took great care of our two slightly anxious and at times high maintenance dogs. They settled in quickly and went on all sorts of enriching walks while we were away. We collected two very calm dogs :) Jemma was very accommodating to our changing schedule and communication was great overall.

Really great stay with Jemma, sorted dropoff and everything! Kept us updated with pics and messages. 10/10
