Availability

🔔 Please note - MY AVAILABILITY IS 10:00 and 22:00 (Rover does not let me specify this). I don't wish to turn people away, and can occasionally make exceptions, but please know this in advance of requests. I'm in the process of refinishing a vintage RV into modern, self-sustaining tiny home with my husband. Having a flexible schedule vs. a traditional job with set hours makes this much easier to accomplish. Making my own schedule means that the pets I care each can have my full attention when I'm actively with them, as well as being able to tailor to their needs.

Safety, trust & environment

As a pet-owner the majority of my life, I come prepared with my doggie bag attachment for leashes, a 360-waist leash, and a leash splitter for multi-dog walks. I always keep water and a container for water available for walks as well. In addition, I have a number of unused wand toys and busy toys for cats (both with and without catnip) along with catnip and cheese Temptations for cat visits. Cats tend to be more fickle in warming up, and I'm not opposed to bribing them for their affection! Please don't hesitate to reach out with other questions or special requests for walking, drop-ins or home stays, I'm happy to accommodate special requests.

Information Jem M. would like to know about your pet

I've found the more information I have about an individual pets' traits, the better prepared I am. Do they have a favorite toy? Do they spook at anything particular? What is their routine like? Are they prone to any type of mischief? Is there a type of touch or affirmation they respond best to? What is their training and discipline routine, if needed? Where should I take them in case of emergency?

A typical day

Depending on the size and activity level of the dog, I have throwing toys to chase as well as rope tugging toys to use with pup friends. I'm always open to suggestions from owners of their fur friend's favorite places.

Your Pet's New Best Friend!

Pet care experience

Pets are in my families' DNA! My mother has been in Cat Rescue since before I was born, so some of my earliest memories are helping around the shelter. I come from a large family where each home had dogs and cats, typically with some kind of quirk or health need. Then, there was my grandparents, not only constant dog owners, but owners of a farm! This made me familiar with a wide array of animals such as sheep, goats, rabbits, cattle, horses and chickens - not to mention often a combination of these, while watching their farm during their travels. As an adult, my mother's involvement in cat rescue led to me (and later my partner and I) becoming a foster-failure, adopting 2 fur kids. They helped me become adept handling pets with special needs as both our cats over the years were diagnosed with conditions that required medication regimens and/or special diets. It's also helped me acquire a knowledge of what may require extra attention & monitoring vs an immediate vet visit. In caring for those fluffers I learned how to clearly communicate symptoms and concerns, as being attentive was not an option. I can promise you, I will never hesitate to reach out with a concern about your furry friend and keep their best interest in mind.

This was our 3rd time having Jem watch the kitties and as always had a great experience. Iris and athena are so weird with new people but Jem has taken the time and effort to make sure they can be comfortable. Even at times they might get a bit upset she handles it so well and understands what their body language is saying.

Jem is absolutely amazing, and I would easily recommend her to anyone looking for a pet sitter! This was our second time having her pet sit our babies, and they very much enjoy her. She takes her time and is so patient with more timid cats making them feel comfortable rather than “threatened” with having another person in their space.
