Pet care experience

Lifelong Dog Owner & Caregiver

While I’m a little new to Rover, caring for dogs is anything but new to me. I’ve spent years caring for dogs with different personalities, energy levels, and needs—from playful puppies and energetic adults to senior dogs who need a little extra patience and attention. I’m comfortable following each owner’s routine, reinforcing training, and making sure every pet feels safe, comfortable, and cared for while their people are away. Dogs have been part of my life since the day I was born, and caring for them has always come naturally to me. My family has always had one or two dogs, giving me a lifetime of hands-on experience with dogs of different breeds, ages, and temperaments. When I was 12, I got my own dog and played an active role in his training. After our older family dog passed away, we welcomed another puppy into the family, and I helped train her as well. She went on to become an AKC Champion show dog and later had a litter of puppies, with my sister keeping one of them. Those experiences taught me the importance of consistency, patience, positive reinforcement, and understanding that every dog has their own unique personality. I’ve also cared for a variety of other pets over the years—including cats, hamsters, fish, a fire-bellied toad, a gecko, a salamander, and a pet newt—so I’m comfortable caring for many different types of animals. The only reason I don’t currently have a dog of my own is because I travel to visit family fairly often—not because I don’t want one! Spending time with animals is something I genuinely enjoy, and I treat every pet as if they were part of my own family.

Cali warmed up to Jeff really quickly, and we could tell she felt comfortable with him right away. He did a great job making her feel at home and sent us pictures every day, which we really appreciated. We’d definitely book with Jeff again!

Doggy Day Care • Aug 14, 2026

Jeff was able to accommodate our last minute booking request. Oats spent 1/2 a day with him and I don’t think he’d want it any other way! Jeff provided great notes, photos, and lots of attention to Oats. We will definitely book again without hesitation! 😊

Schedule

I work from home full-time, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to be present throughout the day. Whether your pet needs walks, bathroom breaks, meals, playtime, medication, or simply someone to keep them company, I'm available to provide attentive care. Because I'm home most of the day, your pet won't be left alone for long periods. I make sure to maintain each dog's normal routine so they feel comfortable, relaxed, and at home while you're away.

Safety, trust & environment

I know how important it is to trust someone with your pet, and I take that responsibility seriously. Before every stay, I take the time to learn your pet's routine, personality, preferences, and any special instructions so I can provide the care they're used to. Whether I'm caring for your pet in your home or mine, my goal is to create a safe, calm, and loving environment where they feel comfortable and secure. I'll follow your feeding schedule, exercise routine, training preferences, medication instructions, and any household rules to keep their routine as consistent as possible. Communication is important to me, too. I'll keep you updated with regular messages and photos so you can relax knowing your pet is happy, safe, and receiving plenty of attention and affection.

A typical day

I’ll tailor activities to each dog’s personality, energy level, and what the owner prefers so they feel comfortable and at home. For more active dogs, I love getting outside for walks, runs, hikes, and play sessions like fetch or tug-of-war, along with plenty of time to explore and burn off energy. For dogs who prefer a slower pace (or just need a little extra care), I’m just as happy keeping them company with relaxed walks, gentle play, window-watching, belly rubs, and lots of snuggles and attention. I’m also mindful of reinforcing any training or routines you’re working on so things stay consistent while you’re away. At the end of the day, it’s really about reading each dog and making sure they feel safe, engaged, and cared for—whether that means a full adventure day or just a calm, cozy hangout.

Jeff can host up to 2 pets per night
I’d say the most important thing for me to know ahead of time is your pet’s normal routine and any specific care instructions that help them feel comfortable and secure—things like feeding schedule, walk frequency, favorite activities, and any rules you’re working on (like leash manners or not jumping on furniture). It’s also really helpful to know about their personality and behavior: how they do with new people, other dogs, or being left alone for short periods, as well as any triggers, fears, or quirks I should be aware of (loud noises, doorbells, etc.). If your pet has any medical needs, medications, allergies, or mobility considerations, I’ll make sure to follow those carefully. The more I know upfront, the easier it is for me to keep things consistent and make your pet feel as relaxed and at home as possible while you’re away.
