Pet care experience

I love animals!

My personal experience: I grew up with animals (dogs, cats, rabbits, gerbils, hamsters, mice, birds). I even had a snake once, which I got to get over my fear of them. So, caring for animals has been a part of my life for as far back as I can remember. I am the trusted pet-sitter for friends and family & travel regularly to care for their fur babies when they are out of town. My professional experience: I volunteered at a local non-profit rescue organization & fostered some kittens (hence all the cat photos). Cats are notoriously good at hiding pain or discomfort, so this work taught me to notice subtle behavior changes for immunocompromised kittens & administering medication. I even considered starting my own non-profit, but I have a very sensitive heart & decided to find other ways to give back to the rescue community. I do this by volunteering in shelters or as a flight nanny, donating to a few organizations (in Hawaii & Puerto Rico) & being an advocate. Special needs care: I have a one-eyed kitty that needs his eye cleaned multiple times a day. I also have a deaf kitty I got from an owner surrender. They had no idea he was deaf! Being a regular pet sitter for some folks has allowed me to notice changes in their pet's health & well-being. I am comfortable giving medication & hope to get more hands on experience with special needs care. Are you thinking of becoming a pet-sitter? Pets

Safety, trust & environment

I am very social with animals. That can look different depending on your pet's needs (talking, play, keeping a safe distance so they know I'm there and don't feel overwhelmed but know I'm approachable). Before I even enter your home, I'm already announcing my presence. When I open the door, I'm careful not to leave any space for curious pets to run. I enter your home just as carefully as I do my own, careful not to surprise them with loud sounds or chaotic energy. My outside shoes remain outside or in designated area and I greet them with lots of love. I greet them with enthusiasm letting them know I'm excited to spend time with them. If they are shy, my approach is a gentle & happy voice. I will look for your pet if they are hiding. During a walk, I always let them take their time sniffing around and choosing where they want to go. Dogs have their walk routine down! Before I end my visit, I double-check that they are within safe distance of the door so we don't have any safety issues or escape attempts. My responses are very detailed. I like to tell a story when I give you an update - it adds a little extra joy to the job and most pet parents appreciate it. The update will be found in your Rover Card, where besides the basics of potty breaks, water refills, general care - you might read about which neighbors we saw during our walk, what we did, where we went, my interactions with them and their overall mood. This provides reasurrance to the pet parents that their pet was cared and loved for during our visit and also protects me as a pet-sitter because it reflects what actions were taken and allows room for feedback if you want to change something. When I provide care in your home (overnight stays or drop-ins), I come alone or with my husband. I do not bring my own pets or other folks with me. I document my arrival and departure with a video and/or photos. I clean up after myself at all times.

Jazmin was amazing with our 10-year old large poodle who was very shy at first. Jazmin did so well helping our pup overcome her shyness. She took her on long walks and gave her a lot of cuddles. Our pup looked so happy in all the pictures Jazmin sent us. We were so grateful to have Jazmin take care of our sweet girl. We also appreciated all the detailed descriptions Jazmin shared every day. We felt our pup was very well taken care of which gave us a peace of mind. I had bad experience on Rover before so I am super grateful to have found Jazmin. You can tell she loves animals and they love her.

Jazmin is simply fantastic! She took time to get to know our boys. She sent updates and pics at least twice per day. She was very organized and professional. She took notes and repeated back to us our feeding and household instructions. She is reliable, communicative, kind, and really understands animals. I highly recommend. A++

My dog was literally smiling for a half hour after Jazmin left, then passed out because they had so much fun. Great communication and overall presence. That peace of mind was priceless!

Jaz took such great care of my dog, Mars. He comes back relaxed and ready to nap! She was timely, great with communication and made sure he stayed hydrated after. I really appreciate the intention she put into making sure I was kept up to date and that Mars was safe and sound. At this point Mars considers her one of his favorites and the joy he has when he sees her is contagious.

Schedule

I am an early bird & my schedule is flexible (available throughout the day) until January 2026. Starting January 21st, I can do drop-ins or walks in the early mornings (6:00 AM to 7:30 AM) and evenings (6:00 PM - 7:30 PM). My afternoons are pretty booked but there may be some availability. Just send a message and we can figure it out together. I'll be in school full-time and have a seasonal job at the tax office until April 15th, so my overnight stays can start around 5:30 PM and end around 7:30 AM. There is value in being a consistent person in your pet's life; so, I can be your go to person when you're out of town or be there on a regular basis either through a set schedule or on-call. If you feel your pet needs more than the standard 30-min drop-in or 60-min extension, we can look at other options.

Jazmin can host up to 3 drop-ins per day
Besides the basics (feeding schedule, allergies, fave treats / toys, vet information).... please be sure to update your care instructions on Rover! If on medication, we can schedule a meet & greet during med time so I see your routine. If you are not available to meet, send photos. What is your flea prevention method? Any favorite hiding spots in the home? If walking, are they friendly if approached by others? I tend to avoid people in general on a walk to avoid any skirmishes. If there are multiple pets in the home, what is the dynamic (any separation needed?) If I'm petsitting, has your pet spent time away from you before? How was it? Will you have friends/family come check on them, as well? Please note, for overnight house-sits, your home should be guest ready (clean and spacious room with dedicated bathroom). If spending the night is not feasible, we can schedule drop-ins. First time booking on Rover? Here is a referral code: https://www.rover.com/sit/jazmia34510 Pet parents a $20 off their first booking with Rover. And if you find another sitter, I’ll get a $10 referral bonus. https://www.rover.com/sit/jazmia34510
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
