We booked Jay to watch my dog with separation anxiety. Be warned Short version-He cancelled the sit unless I paid 4x more leaving me without a sitter at the last minute having to scramble to rearrange plans. Long version-Booked Jay set up a call so I could explain my situation. He was informed that there were other dogs and two birds in the home. He was informed that my dog could not be left alone. We discussed my need for a pet sitter on an ongoing basis as I work 2 days out of the home. He arrived was in my home and was able to see the situation. The dog he needed to sit with was Tag and he was told he could leave with Tag or stay no feeding or walks required as I take them out every morning for an hour. He agreed and was planning to come back later. We ended up not needing the sit however I made a point of checking that he was paid anyway. I asked him if he could watch Tag the following day and again he agreed. That evening he contacted me and reported that he didn’t feel he was being paid enough and wanted to be paid almost 4x the original price. (the fee was set by him on Rover) He cancelled the sit, unless I agreed to pay more, leaving me without a sitter at the last minute having to scramble to rearrange plans. I am grateful that I wasn’t counting on him to show up for a vacation where other arrangements would not be possible and his attempt to increase his fees might have worked. I wanted to alert other pet parents as reliability is critical to our needs for pet sitting.
