Services
Jay can care for
Availability
I work full time in office 4 days a week and one work from home day on Fridays! My schedule has a fairly early end time (7am-3pm), so I am available weekdays after 3pm for any drop in or dog walking services. Weekends are completely open (pending other commitments) which means I am open then for any service those days. Because of a work from home day on Fridays and work place flexibility, I am also able to provide house sitting services Friday-Monday with at least 3 days notice! With the right situation/time of year, I can also provide week day availability for house sitting for animals that can be left alone with one break provided by me in my workday.

Safety, trust & environment
When house sitting, I focus on keeping your pet’s routine and environment as calm, familiar, and stress‑free as possible. I care for pets in their own home so they can stick to the schedules, spaces, and comforts they know best. I’m respectful of your home, reliable with routines, and attentive to each pet’s individual needs—whether that’s extra playtime, quiet companionship, or added reassurance for anxious pets. Safety is always a priority, from following care instructions closely to keeping doors, gates, and feeding routines consistent. I treat every home and every pet with the same care and responsibility I give my own, so you can relax knowing both are in trusted hands.
Information Jay A. would like to know about your pet
Every pet is unique, and the more I know upfront, the better I can tailor my care to help them feel safe, relaxed, and at home. I don’t believe in one‑size‑fits‑all care, so these details help me mirror your pet’s normal routine and support their individual needs as closely as possible. Helpful things to know before a stay: -Daily routines (feeding times, walks, bedtime habits) -Energy level and preferred activities -Training cues or commands they know -House rules (furniture access, crate use, etc.) -Any fears, triggers, or anxiety patterns -How they do when left alone -Medical needs, medications, allergies, or mobility concerns -Signs that indicate stress, discomfort, or illness -Leash manners, reactivity, or escape‑artist tendencies -Grooming sensitivities or handling preferences -Favorite comforts (toys, sleeping spots, routines)
A typical day
A typical day with pets in my care is guided by their needs, not a one‑size‑fits‑all schedule. I take time to understand each dog’s routine, energy level, and personality, and I shape the day around what helps them feel most comfortable and confident. Whether that means structured walks and training refreshers, extra playtime and enrichment, or a slower, calmer pace with plenty of reassurance, I adapt as needed. Puppies receive patience, consistency, and gentle guidance, while older or anxious dogs get the stability and flexibility they thrive on. My goal is always to mirror what works best for your dog at home—keeping things familiar, stress‑free, and genuinely enjoyable—so they feel secure and well cared for while you’re away.

Pet care experience
I’m a devoted pet parent to two dogs, Nash and Kootenay, whom I’ve raised from puppyhood—one still mastering life at 5 months old and the other a well‑seasoned 5‑year‑old pro. Thanks to lots of hands‑on puppy care (and patience), plus extensive dog training classes, I’m comfortable with common commands, routines, and the occasional stubborn streak. I also have experience caring for dogs with high anxiety and medical needs, including calmly administering medications and providing extra reassurance when needed. Beyond dogs, I’ve raised two cats and have experience caring for birds, so I bring a calm, loving, and adaptable approach to every pet—no matter the species or personality!
Reviews

Always a pleasure to deal with Jay - super reliable and very courteous and friendly as well. My dog agrees :)

Jay was literally the best pet/house sitter ever! I think our dog might actually prefer him over us now! Jay was so attentive, went above and beyond and was extremely accommodating especially as we booked him last minute! Thank you again Jay! We will absolutely be using Jay again in the future!!

I needed someone to walk Zeke on pretty short notice and I’m so glad Jay was available! My dog clearly loves him, and he provided great communication throughout the visits and followed all my instructions. All around a great experience, would not hesitate to hire again :)

Jay was lovely and took great care of our pets and home while we were away. 10/10 would recommend 🙂
